We don’t often get to spend Sundays together as James usually works weekends, but when we do we’ve started making an effort to get outdoors and go for a little family walk.
We want to try and encourage the kids to be healthy and walk more, as we are guilty of using the car far too much. It’s so important to teach them about the importance of exercise and I think that these little family walks are a great way of doing that. Even though it’s winter the kids have got wellies, waterproof jackets and even waterproof trousers now so there really is no excuse not to get out.
Today we decided to go for a walk at a local nature reserve called Fox Hagg. It’s quite a steep walk but the kids managed it with hardly any whinging! Once you make it to the top there are stunning views over the city, it’s definitely worth the walk.
It can be quite difficult to get Max to go for a walk, he will moan that he hates walking, he’s too tired, it’s too cold etc. He will try literally anything to get out of it! Today was no exception and he had a huge tantrum about it, but we decided to stick to our guns and it was worth it in the end as he had a great time. He absolutely loves getting muddy and splashing about in puddles.
Evie hasn’t been feeling well today, we think she has some sort of virus but we dosed her up on calpol and the walk seemed to do her the world of good. You really can’t beat a bit of fresh country air, can you?
Now this is what Sundays were made for…
How did you spend your Sunday?
Thank you for reading.
