Our 2017 Bucket List

2017 Bucket List

I do love a good bucket list and the start of a brand new year is the perfect excuse to create a new one and make some plans for the year ahead. Since starting my blog very nearly a year ago it has encouraged us to get out and about more and I now live for our little family adventures. I’m always planning the next day out or the next holiday, so of course we have plenty planned for 2017!

Take the kids to Disneyland

This is probably on every parents list isn’t it? We’ve wanted to go for a while but we wanted to wait until the kids were old enough to properly appreciate it and remember it. So we’re hoping to go around November time, money dependant.

Finish decorating Evie’s bedroom

We made a good start on Evie’s room last month but there’s a few finishing touches still to make and I’d like to get those done asap.

See more of Scotland

We visited Edinburgh twice last year and completely fell in love with the place. I’ve never been anywhere else in Scotland but it’s made me want to explore the country more in 2017.

Save, save, save

We’re hoping to make a big dent in the mortgage deposit savings this year. If we ever want to own our own home, we really need to get saving.

Declutter the house

I am so fed up with clutter in our house at the moment, there just seems to be stuff everywhere. It’s not even stuff that we need or ever even use so we need a massive clear out. I’m going to start with Max’s bedroom as that’s where a lot of the clutter is.

A beach holiday abroad

Last year we went to Corfu, it was our first family holiday abroad and I’d love to go abroad again this year. Ever since Corfu I’ve been dreaming about the gorgeous weather, beaches and pools. There are lots of places we’d like to visit so we’ll probably just wait and see what comes up and whether we can afford it along with all the other things we want to do.

Decorate our bedroom

Our bedroom is right at the top of the house so nobody ever really sees it, which means that we just use it as a dumping ground and I hate it. It’s painted white currently which I’m happy with, but we need a clear out and some new furniture.

Visit some new National Trust properties

We love the National Trust and bought a membership last year. We love our local spots but this year I’d love to go further afield and visit some new properties.

Visit Margate

I’ve been wanting to visit Dreamland in Margate for a while but it’s just too far away from where we live. So we’ve booked a week in Hastings in the summer holidays so we can day trip to Dreamland and a few other places. I’m so excited!

Visit Brighton

Brighton is somewhere I really want to visit and we plan to tie it in with our trip to Hastings in the summer.

Decorate Max’s bedroom

We decorated Evie’s room in December and I’m so pleased with it. But Max’s room is definitely looking a bit tired now in comparison so we’d like to give it a spruce up at some point this year.

Go to Wales

I’ve never been to Wales and it’s been on my list of places to visit for a while now, and we’re finally getting round to it and have booked to go in March.

Do something for my 30th birthday

I’m leaving this one up to my husband to plan! We went to Edinburgh for his 30th last year so I’m thinking maybe another city break for my birthday would be nice. A few of my friends have had parties for their 30th but that’s not really my kind of thing and I’d much rather go away somewhere instead.

I plan to review this at the end of the year to see how we did with our list. What are your plans for 2017?

Thank for reading.

Emma, you certainly do have a fantastic goal list. I really hope you manage to accomplish everything.
I came across a de-clutter idea the other day, for every day for one month, take an item or items, either to be thrown out, recycled or donated. I thought that was genius !
Now I want to convince my husband to start sorting out all his garage stuff, as that seems to be his main dumping ground.
I am happy to start in the cupboards…
I hope you enjoy re-doing your bedroom, as that must be special.
Happy New Year Emma, hope it will be a great year for you all 🙂

We first went to Scotland a few years ago and I completely fell in love with it too. You should definitely go to Stirling and Falkirk and Loch Lomond. They’re all near Edinburgh (isn’t that just the most beautiful city ever?) 🙂

Wow! This is fantastic Goal list and funny enough almost identical to mine. Based in sunny Yoskhire, my family (of 3 plus me) would love to visit sunnier places in the world. My family and I are also looking to get saving fro a Mortgage and I am also planning my 30th Birthday! so ill come back for updates on your progress and to get some inspiration.

Some great things on the 2017 list there! Think everyone can empathise with trying to save…but also wanting the holidays!
