OK, this is a bit of a random post for me. But, it’s actually something that happened to us a few weeks ago and oh my goodness, the panic is real guys!
Now, I’m not one of those parents that refuses to let their children have things like playdoh and slime in the house, but I do try to avoid it if I can. Because let’s be honest, it can make a real mess. And if it gets in the carpet, or hair, then it’s game over.
Our slime-in-hair drama happened when James took Evie out to the shop with him one day and came back with yes you guessed it, a pot of slime! Despite being told to only play with it on the dining table, later that day I discovered some stuck in Max’s bedroom carpet. Then, at bed time, I went to tie Evie’s hair up as normal and found that underneath her hair there was loads of bright green slime tangled in there and it would not come out.
I took straight to google to find out how to remove slime from hair, which led me to YouTube where I found a few people suggesting using mayonnaise. I had nothing to lose at this point so I gave it a go and to my surprise, it worked!
If you ever happen to find yourself in this situation then don’t panic! Just follow these simple steps…
How to remove slime from hair
What you’ll need
- A fine tooth comb
- There’s not much to it to be honest, just grab a handful of mayo and work it into the hair just like you would with shampoo.
- Gently comb through the hair with a fine tooth comb, wiping off any slime that comes away.
- Obviously by this point your child stinks of mayonnaise so you will need to wash their hair as normal, and that’s it! We only had to wash Evie’s hair once, there was no lingering smell or greasiness at all.
