Quitting the Mummy Blog?

OK, so apologies for the slightly click bait title. I am not quitting blogging. But, I do want to make some changes to the content I produce and maybe start to step away from the parenting side of things a little.

This blog started out as a hobby, somewhere really just to vent, in particular about Max. Max’s autism assessment was approaching and it was pretty much all I thought about at that time. Although it’s still something that affects our lives every day, it doesn’t consume us anymore. We learn to live with the challenges and I just don’t feel the need to talk about it here much anymore.

I am also becoming increasingly conscious of the fact that my children are getting older, they are at school now and they might not want their lives sharing on the internet. There are some school mums that read my blog, which is totally fine. But it just makes me want to share less about the kids and keep more of our lives private, if you know what I mean?

Having said that, I am just finishing off a post about Max which I probably will still publish. Mainly because I think it’s one that is important and in a way brings this chapter to a close.

I will still share our days out and travels because more than anything I want this blog to remain a place where I keep our memories. I’d love for the kids to be able to visit my blog in years to come and for everything that we’ve done to be here for them to look at.

So what can you expect to see?

I have always been passionate about fashion and find that my outfit posts do very well compared to a lot of my other content. I am certainly no expert when it comes to fashion, but I enjoy it and it seems that you guys do too. So, I think I am going to be doing a lot more outfit posts and other fashion related content.

And you know what? That makes me really happy. I almost feel like I’m getting the old me back. For the past six years I’ve been a stay at home mum who had no time for fashion anymore. I grabbed leggings and baggy tops every single day just to feel comfortable. But now that I have both children at school full time, I finally have time for me again and I’m loving experimenting with my style again.

I would love your feedback on this. What sort of posts do you like to see from me? Do you enjoy my fashion posts? Leave me a comment here or on my social media accounts. I would love to know what you think.

Thanks for reading.

I love all your blog Emma especially fashion posts. I know what you mean about the kids though and I’m trying myself to step away from more personal posts regarding the kids themselves and concentrating on more lifestyle and travel ideas, which I know the kids are part of but less on an individual basis and I can expand and grow that as they grow up more x I know my two especially William with him starting secondary school will want to feature less and less. Good luck huni whatever you decide I’m sure it will be fab !! Xx

What a great decision! I love my blog – it is my happy place and that’s what your blog should be too. I always find the posts that come naturally – the ones that are relevant to me right now – are the ones that resonate most with my readers. Enjoy your new venture!

I like seeing your fashion posts. You are very good at having your photo taken. I end up with some sort of grimace when I try and smile.

You could do a find a replace for their names in case they ever Google in the future. My old blog was about the kids but I’ve taken it offline now. I’m too lazy to keep a new one. Updated.

I think this is a really logical move if it’s what you want to do. I’m conscious of this for myself in the future – I’m not sure that once my children are at school that I’ll be so happy sharing everything, that’s even assuming that they are happy with me doing that! Your blog already covers such a wide subject area, I think this will work really well for you. Do you follow Jess Soothill? She did the same thing a little while back and I think she did it perfectly – just a subtle and natural shift, and I always love reading her blog.
