I am officially at my heaviest weight, ever. I’ve been meaning to do something about it for a while now but just couldn’t find the motivation. I’ve finally decided that enough it enough after checking my BMI a couple of weeks ago and realising that I was officially classed as overweight (only by .5 but still, not good).

I thought that each week I would post on here how I’ve been getting on in the hope that it will motivate me to stick with it! I plan to weigh myself each Monday morning and then publish a post on here the same day.

On the scales

When I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago I was 12st exactly, which put my BMI at 25.5, that was in the middle of the day and after a big lunch though so maybe not completely accurate. Since then I’ve been ill with a cold and it’s effected my appetite and so I have lost a few lbs as a result. So my starting weight is 11st 8lb.

When we got married in 2012 I weighed just over 10st so my goal is to get back down to that.

Food

I don’t do diets, I love food too much and I just can’t stick to them. So I’m not saying that this is a diet as such, just eating better. I have a bit of a problem with binge eating and I need to try and tackle that if I’m ever going to lose any weight. We also eat too many takeaways and I should probably try and cut down on my alcohol intake too.

Exercise

As for exercise, I was going to the gym fairly regularly last year but I got out of the routine and now haven’t been for a few months. To be honest, I really don’t like the gym and struggle to find the time for it so I’m planning to cancel my membership. Instead, I’m going to walk more, start running again and do the odd workout at home.

Currently the only exercise I get is walking to and from school, which is actually on our road so it’s not much exercise at all really!

Next week…

Over the next week I am going to try my very best to control the binge eating. I am worse in an evening so I’m going to get some healthy snacks in. I’m also going to eat proper meals, I’m fine with breakfast and tea but at lunch time I can never be bothered to make anything so then by about 2pm I’m starving and tend to start snacking on rubbish.

Exercise wise, I’m going to start off slowly as in the past I’ve gone and done a normal gym session or gone for a run and completely overdone it and then I’m unable to do any exercise for the next week. We have an exercise bike being delivered tomorrow so I’m going to try and use that a few times this week.

My aim is to lose weight slowly and steadily as I know that if I lose a lot of weight and quickly I won’t be able to maintain it. So I’m hoping to lose 1 lb this first week.

    All the best Emma on your weight loss journey. I am far from an expert, but drink water as well, about 2 litres a day. Cutting back on the alcohol and take-outs will definitely make a difference. Looking forward to your posts. 🙂

    I’m also arm my heaviest ever and struggle with binge eating sweet stuff in the evening after eating healthy meals all day. I look forward to reading your posts and hope they inspire me to do something too! x

    I think you look really lovely at the weight you are but I wish you luck on your journey. I would like to lose a few pounds myself but as soon as I try to be good I eat more!
