So summer is officially here in the UK (yay!) and we’ve been experiening some pretty amazing weather over the past few days. For me, the sunny weather always gets me thinking about updating my home and freshening it up for summer. With this in mind, I thought I would share a few ways that you can easily update your home for summer, along with a little summer decor wishlist at the end…
Be bold with colour
When we think of summer we think of colour, so it makes sense to incorporate some bright pops of colour into our home decor at this time of year. Maybe try adding some bright coloured cushions, or some new bedding. It’s a quick and easy way to bring summer into your home without breaking the bank.
It’s time to swap your winter scented candles and diffusers for something a little fresher for summer. My absolute favourites for summer are Yankee Candle’s Orange Splash and a new discovery – The White Company’s Seychelles candle. The White Company have a fantastic range of summer candles and diffusers at the momnet, so definitely worth a look.
Add flowers and plants
Filling your home with beauitful flowers and plants in the summer months is an absolute must. It’s an easy way to add some colour and bring the outdoors in. And let’s face it, who doesn’t love having fresh flowers around their home?
Experiment with patterns
If there was ever an excuse for patterns, it’s summer! And nothing says summer quite like a floral pattern if you ask me. Add floral cushions, a rug or even floral wallpaper? Floral patterns shouldn’t just be for clothing, experiment and bring them into your home too!
Bring in the light
One of my favourite things about summer is the light. Gone are the grey skies, instead we have gorgeous blue skies and longer days. Make the most of it and bring as much light into your home as possible. This could be by repainting your walls, and going for something brighter. Or you could add mirrors which will reflect the light and make your home seem lighter and more spacious.
Spruce up your garden
We spend a lot of time in our gardens over summer so it makes sense for us to want to spruce them up a little. Whether that’s by planting new flowers, buying some new garden furniture or just having a general tidy up. It all helps to bring a new lease of life to a tired looking garden.
