We are currently doing up our garden and the first job on our list was to paint the children’s playhouse. If you follow me on Pinterest you’ll have noticed that I’ve been busy pinning lots of photos of beautiful playhouses and sheds, to help me decide on a colour. I initially had my heart set on pink or purple (as did Evie!) but we decided that wasn’t really fair on Max.
The playhouse is about four years old now and has never been painted or treated so it was looking a little bit tired and definitely needed some love. Here’s what the playhouse looked like before we painted it…
After much deliberation we decided on this gorgeous boathouse blue garden colour from Wilko. We wanted a contrasting colour for the frames and other small areas so went for the buttermilk colour, which is off-white/cream shade.
We bought the 2.5L tins which were £14.00 each but we used hardly any, even with two coats, so if you’re thinking of doing something similar I’d recommend getting the smaller 1L tins instead.
And here is what the finished playhouse looks like, much better I’m sure you’ll agree!
I am so pleased with how it’s turned out and so are the kids! It’s amazing how a lick of paint can completely transform something that looked so dull and tired before.
The house is on legs, and there is a little decking area, so we’re planning to just treat that with decking oil and protector in natural oak, again from Wilko.
We have been making lots of big changes in our garden over the past couple of weeks, including laying artificial grass which I am so excited out! The garden should be completely finished next week so I will of course be sharing some photos then, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
Thanks for reading.
