Over the past few weeks me and my husband have been putting together a gallery wall on our landing. We decided to go with a Sheffield theme, using prints featuring well known places around the city. Full credit goes to my husband, whose idea this was, which is funny considering he isn’t even from Sheffield originally!
It’s taken us quite a while to get the right frames and move things around so that they look right but we’ve finally done it, and I am so pleased with the finished result…
This wall was just plain white before, usually with clothes hung over the banister and washing thrown on the floor. Now it’s a colourful, bright space that actually looks like it belongs in our house now.
As well as all the prints we’ve added to the wall, we also bought a new plant which fits perfectly in the corner next to our mirror. The plant was from IKEA and the gorgeous pink tassel basket it from Homesense and I absolutely love it!

We also got a colourful new light fitting and a big bulb to go in it. The bulb is absolutely huge but we wanted to make a statement and I think it does just that. If you’ve seen other interiors posts of mine then you’ll know that we are big fans of the exposed bulb trend, I reckon we have one in every room now!

One of my favourite prints has to be this Arctic Monkey’s mardy bum one. I’m sure you all know the song, and yes I do have it permanently stuck in my head now…
I also really like this one of The Leadmill, which is a nightclub here in Sheffield. It’s where we and James met 12 years ago, so it’s a special place for us and it only seemed right to have it included in the gallery wall.
We wanted to bring as much colour into the space as possible so went for bright coloured prints and a variety of different coloured frames. It’s a bit of a mish mash of colours, designs, shapes and styles but I think that’s what makes for a good gallery wall. I think it all works very well together, what do you think?

I also picked up these cute little cactuses from Next. They sit on top of the mirror and fill in the gap perfectly.
