Last May we visited the beautiful island of Corfu for our first family holiday abroad. Me and James had been before we had the children and fell in love with the place, so we couldn’t wait to return with the kids.
Of course visiting Corfu with the children was a very different experience to the first time we went, but we had an amazing time and it’s definitely a destination that is well suited to families, here’s why…
Family friendly accommodation
There are lots of great family friendly accommodation options in Corfu, we stayed at the Mitsis Roda Beach Hotel which was brilliant. I would highly recommend it as there was so much for the children including kids clubs, disco, kids pool, play area etc. You can see my full review of the hotel here.
Alternatively websites such as Tots to Travel have some great deals on family friendly holidays to Corfu. And if you don’t fancy Corfu, the have plenty of other great locations to choose from, such as France, Italy, Portugal and many more.
The local people on Corfu are some of the friendliest people you will meet. They are particularly friendly with children and made us all feel very welcome. The same goes for the hotel staff, who were fantastic.
Activities for children
There is lots to do in Corfu to keep the children entertained. Whether it’s a visit to one of the many beautiful beaches, or a day trip to Corfu Town, the kids are sure to have a great time.
There are also a few waterparks, which are great for the kids. We didn’t actually get round to visiting one ourselves but Aqualand and Hyrdopolis in particular look amazing and we will definitely check those out if we visit again in the future.
Value for money
Of course, as with any holiday it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be, but there are plenty of deals to be had on holidays to Corfu. We often look for last minute deals as you can get some really great offers for families.
Whilst your in Corfu you’ll also find the prices for food, drink, taxis etc are all very reasonable.
There is a great range of food available in most restaurants in Corfu. So, if you have fussy eaters like me, you definitely won’t have a problem keeping them happy. As you can see…
Have you been to Corfu? Did you love it as much as we did? Or do you have any other family friendly destinations that you would recommend?
Thanks for reading.
