A NIGHT AT OUR WEDDING VENUE | WHITLEY HALL HOTEL REVIEW

Whitley Hall Hotel review

Last week me and James enjoyed a night away at the hotel that we got married in. It was our sixth wedding anniversary at the beginning of the month so we thought it would be a nice way to celebrate. We had wanted to go for our fifth wedding anniversary last year but we just didn’t get the chance.

I have told this story before, I’m sure, but when I was pregnant with Evie we had a night away at Whitely Hall. You could call it a babymoon I guess. We had a lovely evening but the next morning, my waters broke. In the hotel bed. Whoops! So we had to make a very quick exit and head to the hospital. Evie was born that afternoon. So it’s safe to say that Whitely Hall holds a lot of memories for us!

Evie’s eagerness to enter the world meant that the full english breakfast that James was so looking forward to that morning, never happened. So I’m pleased to say he finally got that breakfast this time!

Whitley Hall is a beautiful 16th century ivy-clad mansion in Grenoside, Sheffield. It’s split into two parts – the original building and a newer extension. We actually got married in the newer part of the hotel but love both parts equally…

We booked dinner, bed and breakfast in a luxury suite for £172. The room was absolutely amazing, and huge! Apparently it’s where a lot of brides get ready before their wedding as there’s lots of space for hair and makeup etc.

We kept it classy by drinking gin out of the can in the hotel room, because you know, it was an expensive night away so we had to make cutbacks somewhere!

Before dinner we had a wander around the grounds, which are so lovely and peaceful. There’s peacocks that live in the grounds, including brand new baby peacocks! They are so beautiful and so friendly.

Dinner was a three course meal in Restaurant 1584, which was really good.

The next morning we even attempted to recreate some of our wedding photos, haha! The original…

And now…

Gorgeous venue! It’s so important and refreshing to have those times away together sans-kids!. Love the before and after shots, and glad we’re not the only ones who pop the cheeky gins! ???
