Both of my children have very sensitive skin so I’m extremely fussy when it comes to sun care, it has to be right. I’ve tried so many different ones and although a lot are OK, it seems impossible to find one that ticks all the boxes.
One thing that I haven’t ever tried is organic sun lotion, so when the Green People got in touch to see if I’d like to receive some of their sun care I was keen to give it a try.
Max suffers with eczema so I have to be careful about what I’m putting on his skin as it can be irritated very easily. Evie, as a redhead, burns very easily and also has quite sensitive skin. A few weeks ago she was out in the sun for most of the day, wearing SPF 50 and ended up with a puffy, red face for the next few days, which we now know was pricky heat.
Since then we had been using the Garnier Ambre Solaire Kids Sensitive Advanced Protection Spray SPF50, we took it on holiday to Corfu too and to be honest I can’t really knock it. She never burnt, never got a rash and it was sensitive enough on her skin. My only gripe with it is the feel of it, it is quite heavy and sticky and you can feel it on your skin for the whole day. For some people this might not be much of an issue, but it’s something I really dislike about sun lotions.
Both Sun Lotions are extremely light on the skin, you really can’t feel it on the skin at all, and I love this about it! I personally really dislike applying sun cream because of the feel of it on my hands, I have to wash it off my hands immediately after, but with this you can’t feel it on your hands at all and don’t even need to wash them after.
The Organic Children Sun Lotion is gentle on delicate skin, especially my two’s sensitive skin! It’s also all natural, with no nasties and scent free too. It’s priced at £17.50 for 150ml, and 10% of their profit is donated to charity.
The Scent Free Sun Lotion was great for both me and my husband. I have fair skin so can burn very easily, but I didn’t burn at all when I had this on! My husband has very easily irritated skin on his legs and this sun lotion didn’t irritate him at all, win win! This one is priced at £21.00 for 200ml and again 10% of net profit goes to charity.
Both lotions that were sent to me were SPF30 and that’s because we actually don’t get much more protection from SPF50. Research shows that SPF50 actually only filters out 1% more UVB light that SPF30.
Once I know that the kids are well protected against the sun, we can get on with enjoying the sunshine! Especially these last few days as the weather has been beautiful.
