It’s something most people don’t even think about until they are putting an outfit together for a night out: what shoes to wear.
In 2025, especially in the world of men’s fashion, the designs you need to look at are becoming more diverse than the standard sneakers. This fall, the Paris menswear runway showcased some truly epic footwear, especially reworkings of classical designs, sandals, and even 3D shoe designs.
So, when it comes to what kind of shoes are going to be hitting department stores in 2025, what can you expect to see in the men’s section?
Boots
What was spotted on the Italian runway? Boots! Specifically, boots that are due to hit the shelves in the summer in a range of brown, caramel, and chocolate tones.
The biker boot with ankle straps made an appearance, as did sneaker boots, and there was even a Chelsea boot hybrid, which would work well with a casual suit. As for the material, it seems that snakeskin is popular, as is leather, giving rise to cowboy boots, which is also likely making a statement this coming year.
Sandals
Men’s sandals are becoming ever more present on runways, and this was not lost on the Paris runway.
The men’s sandal is everywhere and is set to be a staple of both spring and summer collections, mixing urban and resort vibes. The runway showed cross-strap styles, as well as black sandals with laces to the ankle, which is an interesting option for men to wear to an evening event.

Loafers
One of the stars of the fall runway was the reimagined loafer, which featured white and black designs, placed on top of glossy leather, with gold embellishments.
It was eye-catching, and, with its simple design, it is likely to be hitting a department store near you come spring. Of course, this hyper-modern take isn’t for everyone, so you can dial it back a bit if you wish by opting for a simple black or white loafer in leather, no gloss needed!
Ultra-Flats
Ever heard of the fisherman’s flat shoe? In the fall runway, this was reimagined by multiple designers in black leather, making it a simple, slip-on shoe for gents to wear with casual looks or even suits. The high tongue on these shoes is eye-catching and gives the wearer the option to pair them with shorts without the need for socks.
Chunky Shoes
Moving away from super flat shoes, there were the chunky options. Designers like Dior showcased a lace-up clog hybrid design made of a suede leather combo, while other designers opted for sandals that had an oversized 3D look to them. Some of these shoes were a bit extreme, but gents, you can still go for chunky shoes in your own wardrobe by 2025; just look for shoes with chunky heels. Or, you can opt for shoes that have overly wide tongues, which can give the appearance of this portion of the shoe being wider, which can add to the 3D look and feel.
If you select any of these shoe options in 2025, you are sure to make a big statement everywhere you go!
