LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS FOR CHILDREN

LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEAS

With just over a week to go until Christmas, many of us will be doing some last minute shopping. No matter how organised we intend to be, life often gets in the way and we end up rushing around in the last few days before Christmas. If this sounds like you and you’re buying for children but aren’t sure what to get, I’ve put together a list of a gifts that are sure to go down a treat.

Whether you’re buying for a little boy or girl, a two year old or an eight year old. There’s something to suit every child on this list…

1. Lego

I find that Lego is a hit with most young children. You can get all sort of different sets such as Harry Potter, Frozen, Star Wars and more. You can also buy sets for different age ranges so there’s a Lego set for everyone. My six year old daughter is a huge Lego fan and gets a new set every Christmas and birthday and it always goes down well.

2. Outdoor toys

This one might seem a little bit random as it’s the middle of winter, but I find that kids end up with so many toys at Christmas and sometimes it’s things that they might only play with once and then it gets shoved to the back of a cupboard. Outdoor toys such as kids swings sets, playhouses, trampolines etc are guaranteed to get lots of use and it really doesn’t matter if it can’t be played with for a couple of months. A children’s swing set or playhouse will bring years of fun and memories which is money well spent if you ask me!

3. Arts and crafts

Kids love arts and crafts and messy play. Things like playdough, Crayola art sets, slime, painting etc. Just make sure that the parents are OK with messy crafts first! We’ve had a few slime and playdough related incidents over the years so I know it’s not always the most welcome of gifts!

4. Board games

Family favourites such as Jenga, Pictionary, Buckaroo, Monopoly, Mouse Trap or Operation are always winners at this time of year. The children can play by themselves or the whole family can get involved. Plus it’s something that will be played with time and time again, rather than a toy that they will get bored of in two minutes.

5. Frozen 2 toys

As the new Frozen 2 movie came out recently, kids are of course going crazy for all the toys that have been released. From Frozen pyjamas and mugs to Anna and Elsa dolls and cuddly toys, there’s so much to choose from.

6. Gift vouchers

If you’re still not sure what to buy then a gift voucher is always a good option, particularly for slightly older children. My two are six and eight and would appreciate and understand the value of a gift card now. They love being able to go and pick something out from the shops and at least that way you ensure that they get something they really want.

7. Gift experiences

Gift experiences are a great alternative Christmas present. Again, if you want to avoid buying plastic toys that won’t get much love buying a gift experience instead is a brilliant alternative. Ideas include a forest segway experience with GoApe, snorkelling, a junior driving experience, zoo animal experiences etc.

Have you done all of your Christmas shopping yet?

Thank you for reading.
