On the very last day of 2017 I thought I would take a moment to reflect on everything that we have done this year, because it’s been a bloody good one! I think that 2017 has actually been our busiest year yet. We’ve had so many family adventures, quite a few holidays and made so many memories to treasure.
I’ve put together a little video of some of our favourite photos and video clips from throughout the year, which you can watch here…
I am so grateful for the opportunities that blogging has brought us this year. Our holidays to Butlins, Bluestone and Sherwood Hideaway were all complimentary and I still cannot quite believe that people want to give me things for free! It blows my mind and I’ll never not be grateful for these amazing opportunities that come our way.
In November we got to take the kids to Disneyland which is something we’ve wanted to do for years and we are so pleased that we managed to save up the money to finally do it. I hope they will treasure the Disney magic and those special memories forever.
But do you know what? As amazing as it was to take the children to Disneyland, I think my favourite holiday this year was when we went down to the Sussex coast. We drove somewhere new every day and just spent a whole week exploring. I absolutely love exploring the UK, its something I’m very passionate about, we really are lucky to live somewhere so beautiful. Although we did so much during that week, it was still so chilled and relaxed. A highlight for me was eating chips on Eastbourne beach at about 7pm one night. No rushing around, no worrying about the kids bedtime, just being in the moment. It really is the little things in life that make us the happiest.
Of course as well as the happy times we also had some sad times in 2017. We lost our beloved labrador Louis. Not only did we lose him but it was so very sudden and unexpected, a huge shock for us all. He was only seven and it felt so unfair, I’m tearing up now as I type just thinking about it. It definitely took me quite some time to come to terms with.
It was also the year that I turned 30! And James surprised me with a break to Granada in Spain, just the two of us. It was the longest that we’ve ever been away from the kids and in all honestly I did spend a lot of the holiday pining for them. But it was still lovely to spend some time together and in such a beautiful city.
So here’s to 2018 and lots more adventures, happiness and of course plenty more of those ordinary everyday moments that make us the happiest.
Thank you for reading and Happy New Year!
