You know those cute cake smash photoshoots that people often do on their babies first birthday? Well we had the bright idea to do that with our 4 and nearly 6 year old…
March is Max and Evie’s birthday month so I knew I wanted to do something birthday themed for this months photos, and this is what James suggested. At first I laughed it off because I’m one of those mums that really hates mess. But then I realised that it would be really fun for them and actually it felt really good to just let them go wild!
Evie has already had her birthday but Max’s isn’t until the 25th. They are having a joint birthday party on Max’s birthday, which they are so excited about! I love that they get to share their birthday month and even their party, I know that I might not be able to get away with it again next year but for now it makes their birthday feel that bit more special.
March is always a month that has me reminiscing and this year I’ve been thinking a lot about the children’s relationship and how it has changed over the years. When Evie was first born Max was three weeks away from his 2nd birthday and he had absolutely no interest in his new baby sister. It stayed that way pretty much until Evie started to walk and then slowly, they became closer. Four years later, as much as they fight some times, they are the best of friends and inseparable most of the time.
Having the kids close in age has been a challenge, that’s for sure but I really wouldn’t have it any other way.
Here’s how our big kid cake smash went down…
