Valentine’s Day, you either love it or hate it. We’d never really made a fuss about it in the past, before we had the kids. I mean, we love each other every day so why do we need to show each other just how much on one specific day, just because we’re made to feel like we should? It just felt like a lot of unnecessary pressure.
However, since we’ve had the kids and the stresses of every day life as parents get in the way, I’ve started to see how Valentine’s Day really is a good thing. It’s easy to forget to make time for each other when you’ve been together for such a long time, and you have kids and life is just generally really busy. But yet it is so important to spend quality time with each other and remember why you fell in love in the first place.
Don’t get me wrong we don’t go all out for Valentines Day like some people seem to, but an excuse to have an M&S dine in for two can’t be a bad thing can it?! We bought each other a card and I even got some beautiful flowers. We had a lovely evening together, without our phones, just the two of us, and it was lovely.
When Evie realised that it was Valentine’s Day she had to make daddy a card straight away and then she made him make one for her too, so cute! She is most definitely a daddy’s girl this one! Max even got a Valentine’s card from his best friend at school which was super sweet and he was so pleased with it. He did however forget to give her one, typical male! So we all had a very lovely love filled day.
Taking a day out to appreciate the man that you love really isn’t such a bad thing is it? And if he wants to show me how much he loves me by buying me flowers, well I’m not going to complain!
Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? How did you spend it?
Thanks for reading.
