What I Wore | The Velvet Dress of Dreams

Velvet dress

It might only be November, but it’s never too soon to start thinking about party season in my opinion. And this gorgeous crushed velvet dress has Christmas party season written all over it, doesn’t it?

There’s definitely something about velvet that just screams Christmas to me. But I really like that the lilac colour is different from the usual black or red Christmas party dress.

I really like the shift style of the dress, again making it perfect for party season when you’ve had a big meal as it hides that food baby really well! I’m also a big fan of flared sleeves, which you will already know if you are a regular reader of my outfit posts. This dress certainly ticks all the boxes for me.

You’re probably wondering where the dress is from, and I can bet that none of you have guessed. It’s actually from Evans. Evans isn’t somewhere I’ve ever shopped before because I’m not plus size. But what I hadn’t realised is that their clothing starts from a size 14. I am usually either a 12 or 14. This dress is a 14 and fits me perfectly.

I’ve been having a look at the rest of their website and I have to say I’m really impressed. I’ve fallen in love with a couple of their dresses, including this one.

I decided to style this outfit with simple black accessories as I wanted the dress to stand out. I really love how it all looks together…

Dress – Evans, Bag – Primark, Boots – Primark, Earrings – Accessorize

Although I won’t have a work Christmas party to go to this year, hopefully I’ll be able to wear this beauty on a date night or a night out with friends. I think it would also make a perfect Christmas day dress. What do you think to this outfit?

Thanks for reading.

*I was sent this dress for an instagram campaign but wasn’t asked to write this blog post – I just love it!*

What a beautiful dress! And you’ve styled it really well. Love the fluffy bag too! I would never have guessed it was from Evans, either but will have to have a peek at their website now as I’m a good size 12 and you’re absolutely right – come Christmas it is ESSENTIAL to have a floaty dress or elasticated bottoms to hide all that food! 🙂
