I last wrote about my makeup routine last year and although some products I use are still the same, I have since discovered some great new products that I thought were worth sharing.
I have oily and acne prone skin, and I am also very pale. I’m talking the palest shade in everything and sometimes even that isn’t pale enough! So if you have similar skin to me, this post might be useful and maybe you will discover some products that will work well for you.
I filmed a video of me applying my makeup which you can watch here…
Straight into foundation because on a general day to day basis I don’t wear primer. I have been using the L’oreal infallible 24h matte in the shade 10 porcelain for a couple of years now and I love it. It doesn’t keep me matte all day but I honestly don’t think that any foundation could! But it works better than any other foundation I’ve tried.
I use my Real Techniques buffing brush to buff my foundation into the skin.
I had been using the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hr powder until very recently. It’s great at keeping me matte and is actually a powder foundation so if you’re not into foundation, you can just use this on it’s own for a little bit of coverage. When I went to repurchase this a couple of weeks ago I couldn’t find it anywhere so decided to try the Rimmel Insta Fix & Matte translucent powder, and I am so glad I did as it’s amazing! It’s definitely keeping me shine free for longer than the Lasting Finish powder did.
I use the Sigma F30 large powder brush to apply my powder. It’s the softest, fluffiest brush ever.
Bronzer and blush
I only recently started using bronzer when I discovered the L’Oreal Glam Bronze. Every bronzer I’d used in the past just made me look orange so I never bothered with it. This one is really subtle so perfect if you have very fair skin like me.
I feel like eyebrows are my thing! I love doing my brows, it’s my favourite part of my makeup routine. I start off by combing them through with a spoolie and then I fill them in with the Maybelline Brow Satin in the shade medium brown. This is a product I’ve used for a couple of years and really enjoy using. I then comb through a little of the Maybelline Brow Drama sculpting brow mascara to help keep them in place.
I don’t tend to use much eyeshadow. At the moment I’m just using a little bit of Benefits Call my Buff on my lid. I then pop a little bit of highlighter on my brow bone.
I use the Sigma E25 blending brush to apply my eyeshadow, I am no makeup expert so I have no idea if this is the right brush to use, but it works for me!
I had quite thick eyelashes but they are very very fair so I use quite a lot of mascara. I feel like I’ve tried every mascara out there but my current favourite is Maxfactor False Lash Effect. It makes my lashes look great and doesn’t transfer, which is something I often have a problem with as I have hooded eyes.
I always pop on some lip balm when I’m doing my makeup, and throughout the day. My favourite is the Molton Brown Lipsaver. On a normal day where I’m just doing school runs and things around the house, I won’t wear lipstick. But when I do one of my favourites is the Seventeen Stay Pout lipstick in the shade man hunt.
If you have any make up product recommendations then please do leave me a comment and let me know, I’m always keen to try out new makeup products.
