Max and Evie have been testing out the Simba Hybrid mattress over the past couple of weeks and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Their old mattresses were really cheap ones bought from eBay, they’ve done their job but they were in desperate need of replacing. So when Simba got in touch to see if we would like to review their mattresses we were thrilled.

Simba started life as a family thread business in the 1970’s. They supplied their first piece of thread to a mattress factory in 1979 and today their thread has been used in 50 million mattresses across the world.
In 2002 they decided to create their very own mattress. Since then they have worked hard with leading experts to create the perfect mattress, engineered for sleep.
The Simba Hybrid mattress
As well as mattresses Simba also supply duvets, pillows, sheets and even sleep spray. But as you’re here to learn about the Hybrid mattress, let me tell you more…
The Simba Hybrid mattress is made with a unique combination of 2,500 conical pocket springs and responsive memory foam. It has five layers to help you get the best quality sleep…
- Breathable sleep surface – Zip-off, washable and hypoallergenic sleep surface. Soft to the touch and easy to clean.
- Cooling comfort layer – Designed to tackle overheating and give you extra support.
- Supportive pocket springs – Cradles your body from top to toe and minimises disturbance between couples.
- Responsive memory foam – Moulds to your body for more restful sleep.
- Zoned base – Gives you pressure relieving support in all the right places.
“Face down, curled up or sprawled out? It turns out it doesn’t matter. We designed our mattress using data from 10 million sleepers, so however you sleep we’ve got you covered. The Simba Hybrid’s flexible zoned base and unique patented springs respond individually to each sleeper, so your movement doesn’t affect your partner. Household harmony restored.”
Delivery and unboxing
The mattress is available in many different sizes but we opted for two standard single mattresses for each of the kids. They were delivered in boxes which looked far too small to contain a mattress but they are actually vacuum packed and rolled to fit in the boxes, which I thought was very clever!
Unboxing, unwrapping and unrolling the mattresses was really straight forward. Simply position the mattress where you want it and use the handy cutter provided to free the mattress from its plastic.
Because the mattresses are vacuum packed they come out looking quite flat, so they need 3-5 hours to fully rise. It can take up to 48 hours to completely settle but you can sleep on it during this time.
The kids couldn’t wait to sleep on their new mattresses for the first time and they tell me that they are very comfortable. They are generally good sleepers anyway so they have continued to sleep well on their new mattresses. When I asked Evie what she thought she said it was the best mattress ever! I’ve certainly noticed how comfortable they are when I sit on their beds, I could happily stay there all night!
One thing I have noticed is that Evie is much cooler at night with her new mattress. She usually gets very hot and sweaty when she sleeps but she hasn’t had this problem with the Simba mattress. I assume that this is down to the clever breathable and cooling layers.
What’s great about ordering from Simba is that you get a 100 day trial, so if you’re not completely satisfied you can return your mattress. If you do decide to keep it, you get a 10 year guarantee.
