30 Things Before 30


I’ve seen a lot of these lists around and it’s really inspired me to think about the things I’d like to do over the next year.

My list isn’t particularly ambitious because I am already a couple of months into being 29 so I don’t have a great deal of time to complete these things, so they are all relatively realistic.

I realise 30 isn’t exactly old but there is something about approaching 30 that makes you think, how the hell did that happen? And it makes you realise that we aren’t here for ever and that you should make the most of each day, so that’s what I plan to do!

Here is my list…

1. Do a colour run

Something I’ve always fancied doing but have never gotten round to.

2. Work on my fitness and lose a little weight

I have a gym membership but have been really lazy with it for the past few months and it’s meant I’ve put on quite a bit of weight too. I’m not interested in being super slim, I like my curves but it is my mission to be happy with my body by the time I reach 30.

3. Run 5k 

If I can work on my fitness enough, I’d love to be able to run a 5k. I’m not the best at running and can currently only run for about 10 minutes before I nearly pass out so this would be a huge achievement for me.

4. Disney Paris

This is something we are hoping to do at some point next year, eek! Me and my husband have been before but I can’t wait to go back and take the kids!

5. Do a photography course

I love photography, it’s a big passion of mine and I would love to get better at it and learn how to use my camera properly.

6. Spend less time online

Easier said than done as I’m a total social media addict which hasn’t been helped since I started blogging. I’m thinking maybe just one or two evenings a week of screen free time.

7. See friends more

Sometimes life gets in the way and we forget to make time for our friends, I know I need to make more of an effort.

8. Say yes more often 

Be spontaneous and say yes to things! I’m a total over-thinker so can talk myself out of pretty much any situation!

9. Take a spontaneous trip somewhere

Sticking with the spontaneous theme, this is something I’ve always wanted to do but is kinda hard when you have two young kids!

10. Be happy

I am definitely not saying that I’m unhappy but sometimes life gets on top of me, as it does with everyone. I need to take the time to appreciate the little things in life and do more of the things that make me happy 🙂

11. Try yoga

I have always wanted to try yoga and I think it could be a great way to relieve stress and anxiety.

12. Photo albums

My children are three and five and I don’t have a single photo album of them. All of my photos are on memory cards, or on the laptop and if they were to break they’d be lost forever. I want to take the time to go through all my photos and have some printed so that I can create albums of the kids.

13. Read a book

I really enjoy reading but I honestly can’t remember the last time I read a whole book, that’s quite embarrassing actually.

14. Continue to work hard on my blog

I love my blog and I’m very proud of how much it has grown and what I’ve achieved in nine months. I plan to work hard on it and reach some personal goals.

15. Eat healthier and stop binge eating

This isn’t really about losing weight, I just need to start eating healthier and look after my body better. I’m a total binge eater and would like to tackle this problem.

16. Save money

Something we aren’t very good at! But me and my husband are desperate to buy a house of our own one day so we really need to start saving more.

17. Holidays

I’m not sure where, but I’d like to fit a couple of holidays in to the next year.

18. Baking

Baking is something that I really enjoy but rarely make the time for. I’d like to make more of an effort with it and maybe try some more ambitious recipes.

19. Redecorate

After the success of redecorating our living room, I have plans to redecorate pretty much every other room in our house! I will most likely start with Max’s bedroom.

20. Be more organised

I used to be really organised, I don’t know what went wrong, maybe it was when I had kids!

21. Spend quality one on one time with kids

I love it when I get to spend time with Max or Evie on their own but it doesn’t happen very often, Max especially with him being at school.

22. Grow fruit/veg

I’ve always loved the idea of growing my own produce and I think it would be a lovely thing to do with the children, so that they can see where their food comes from.

23. Get outdoors more

I love walking and getting out in the fresh country air so I would like to make an effort to do this more often.

24. Tackle my anxiety

I’m not sure how I will go about this but I plan to do some research and look at different techniques. My anxiety isn’t too bad at the moment but at times it has been really really tough.

25. Shout less!

I am a shouter, I hold my hands up! I get stressed very easily and I need to work on that. I mentioned yoga above and I think it would be a great place to start.

26. Go to London

This was something that was on our summer bucket list but we didn’t get round to doing. We’ve now booked to go to London next month and I can’t wait! I love London and it will be the kids first time there.

27. Take the kids to see Disney on Ice

Something I say I want to do every year but still am yet to do!

28. Get another tattoo

I have a few tattoos already but would like to add another one. I’m not entirely sure what yet but I have a few ideas.

29. Get another piercing

I got my nose pierced a couple of years ago but it didn’t heal properly and I ended up taking it out, so I’m considering having it redone if I can be brave enough!

30. Have a meal at a Michelin star restaurant

I love food and eating out so this would be a dream for me.

    No. 10 sounds like a very sensible one to me – and hopefully achievable! I passed 30 yonks ago so I guess I should be thinking about 40 before 40. Wouldn’t know where to begin! #KCACOLS

    Turned 30 this year so can relate to your ‘assessment of achievements’ bit!! I like this list – especially the photo albums bit, I’m RUBBISH at that! Could you combine the disney trip or the michelin starred restaurant with your 30th birthday? How exciting! x #kcacols.

    ps. it really wasn’t half as bad as I thought it would be. The baby was only 5 weeks old so 30 passed in a blur!

    Some very good things to do before your 30th, I’ve been trying to put one together but it’s so hard! Also considering I have a month to do it all on maternity pay haha!

    Fab list! Quite a lot of goals on there, but they seem pretty achievable if you put your mind to it! I’m 34 now, and had no issue at all with turning 30. I remember feeling really quite happy with where my life was at that point! x #KCACOLS

    I really like this post. I would like to do something like this but 40 Things Before 40 as I will be 40 next year although I have missed 4 months already. I might need to do it soon I guess.     Promise you’ll look lovely with a little nose stud or hoop.You’ve got a perfect nose for a little piercing with a pretty face and cute nose. Turned 35 recently having mine redone too from my college days.Like you, I missed so much, but finally had got it pierced again. My only regret was not doing it sooner so I could have enjoyed earlier for all of those years. I say “do it” now so you can cross off your bucket list so you can enjoy the compliments of others how well it suits you and create a bit of “nose ring envy” amongst your friends:)
