CANDLE MAKING KITS FROM RIA | MENTAL WELLBEING & MINDFULNESS

*This is a sponsored review with Ria*

Anyone who knows me will know how much I love candles. There really is nothing better to me than cleaning the house, lighting my favourite candle and relaxing with a glass of wine. There’s just something so peaceful and calming about it. So when I had the opportunity to review one of Ria’s candle making kits, I jumped at the chance. As much as I love candles, I’ve actually never had a go at making my own so I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

Love Ria

Ria was founded in 2021 by Victoria Casebourne, who wanted her products to promote mental wellbeing, mindfulness and help people to reconnect with what is important to them.

“Ria is about learning to love the awkwardness of our two halves, loving who we are now while working towards who we hope to be in the future. Ria is about taking a stand for a life where we choose love, kindness and growth over fear, judgment and the sinking feeling of being stuck in a world which does not quite work for us.”

As well as candle making kits Ria also sells crystal infused candles, reed diffusers, essentials oils, wax melts, bath salts and more.

Candle making kits

My kit arrived with everything I needed to get started on making my candles. I went for the lemongrass and ginger scent as I wanted something fresh and clean smelling for summer. Other available scents include lavender, chocolate macaroon and frankincense & myrrh.

The soy candle making kit includes:

  • Instructions
  • Containers for candles
  • Soy wax
  • Your chosen scent
  • Wooden stirrer
  • Wooden wick supports
  • Wick stickers
  • Glass wax melting jar
  • Safety stickers

The process

Each candle making kit comes with clear, step by step instructions. The process is very simple, so it really does give you time to be present in the moment.

After I had prepared my candle pots with the wicks and supports provided, I started melting the wax. This can be done in the microwave but I opted to do it in a pan of water on the hob. It’s a little slower this way but it really gives you the chance to relax while you stir the melting wax.

Next, I added my chosen scent of lemongrass and ginger. It really is a beautiful scent, strong but not overpowering. Exactly what I wanted. After stirring in my candle scent it was time to pour my melted wax mixture into my candle pots, ensuring that the wicks remained in the centre of the jars.

I then left my candles to set, it is advised that they are left for three days to properly cure. I could smell the gorgeous scent before I had even lit them. Once cured I trimmed the candle wicks and it was time to light my candles!

I thoroughly enjoyed the candle making process, it definitely helped me to unwind and be present in the moment. I think that these kits would make lovely gifts, I think I might buy them for friends and family at Christmas. The kits are priced at £29 which I think is very reasonable as it’s not just a product you are buying, but an experience.
