Picking your wedding venue is a huge decision. It’s one of the biggest, if not the biggest day of your life and understandably you want it to be perfect. Choosing the right venue isn’t just about finding somewhere that has the right look, there’s so much more to consider and it can be quite overwhelming.
Below are seven things I recommend considering before you book your big day….
First and foremost, make sure you research wedding venues in the area that you want to get married in. Don’t just assume you know all of the venues in your area, the chances are there are some hidden gems that could be perfect for your wedding day that you didn’t even know existed.
If, for example, you are getting married in Liverpool, a simple google search of ‘wedding venues Liverpool‘ will produce lots of great information for you to sift through and find your dream wedding venue.
Capacity is a big one to consider when it comes to weddings. Do you want a small and intimate day? Or a big gathering of all your family and friends? Some wedding venues will only allow a certain number of people so this is something you will need to enquire about before going any further.
Think about whether you want to get married close to home, or somewhere else. There are no rules, it’s your special day and you can get married wherever you wish to. But you may want to consider how easy it will be for your guests to get to and from your venue if it’s not close to home. You will need to ensure that there are hotel rooms available in the area for overnight stays.
Before you even start looking at venues you will probably already have an idea about the theme and style you want your wedding to be. You may want a rustic wedding, in which case a barn could be a great option. You might prefer a more traditional wedding in a church. Or maybe even a beach wedding? There’s so many different options and it’s important to find a style of venue that is right for you.
Of course, budget is incredibly important when it comes to weddings. But they really don’t have to cost the earth. It is possible to find your perfect venue even if you’re on a tight budget. Set your budget, do plenty of research and see how far your budget can stretch, I bet you will be pleasantly surprised.
Also remember to put some of your budget aside for anything additional you want to add to your wedding venue. For example, you may wish to decorate the space yourself, hire a band, a photobooth or even hire singing waiters! I think that singing waiters are a fantastic idea as they bring lots of fun to your wedding and it’s something a little bit different.
Make a list of your favourite venues and make arrangements to go and visit them all. You can’t get a proper idea of what a venue is like until you visit in person. Hopefully this will help you to narrow down your search and then I would recommend going and visiting your shortlisted venues for a second time before making a final decision.
7. Don’t settle for second best
Lastly, don’t settle for second best! Make sure the venue that you choose is one that you and your partner are completely happy with. This is a day that you will look back on for the rest of your life, so it has to be right.
I hope that this post has been helpful and that you find the wedding venue of your dreams.
