We often get to hear a lot of advice about healthy living. Good healthcare is often good skin care as well. Hydrating yourself, wearing sunscreen, following a healthy and balanced diet, reducing alcohol consumption, avoiding smoking are all good practices that will help keep your skin healthy. People often use more products like cleansers, moisturisers, facial masks etc. when they want to improve the appearance and feel of their skin. All of these practices will eventually fall short as none of them can prevent ageing and its effects. Some people opt for surgical methods like a facelift to negate the effects of ageing on one’s appearance. This involves a significant cost, risks that are associated with surgeries and significant recovery time. For people who are looking for an easier method, there are injectables.

What are cosmetic injectables

A treatment where a qualified practitioner addresses the signs of ageing by injecting certain substances directly to the face of the patient is now the most popular method in the anti-ageing arsenal. These treatments are more expensive than getting a facial mask, but their effects are almost immediate. Botox is the most popular brand in this space. Together with other treatments, it can work wonders in making a person look younger. Unlike surgery, such treatments do not require anaesthesia. The injections are reported to feel only as painful as a tiny pinprick. Such treatments are deemed safe but it needs to be emphasised that it should only be administered by a qualified practitioner.

Botox is the brand name given to the substance botulinum toxin. It works by temporarily paralysing the facial muscles that it is injected into. When facial muscles contract the skin on the face will fold. When this process keeps happening over several years, fine lines or wrinkles appear at the place where the skin folds. Injecting Botox into the muscles responsible for this gets rid of the lines. It also prevents the lines from reappearing as long as the effects of Botox last. The effects usually last between three to six months. An anti wrinkle treatment London would not cost a lot it totally depends on the areas to be targeted. All lines and wrinkles on the face do not appear as a result of the contraction of facial muscles.

Dermal fillers

Like Botox, dermal fillers are also injected directly into the affected area of the face. They are used to target areas of the face that appear wrinkly due to loss of volume in the face. A wide range of substances is used as dermal fillers. This treatment, when used in tandem with Botox based treatments, can give an overall youthful appearance to the user. Botox is typically used on the top portion of the face. They are especially effective when used around the eyes and on the forehead. Fillers can be injected into any area that appears to droop or sag as a result of the loss of volume. Any effective treatment rooted in injectable cosmetics would involve the use of Botox and Dermal Fillers.
