Back in February of this year I was looking to buy a new bed for our Basset Hound, Poppy. I knew the one I wanted to get – a grey velvet one by a brand called House of Paws. I wanted the large size, which didn’t seem to be in stock anywhere apart from one website – Not in the Dog House.
So, I went ahead and ordered without checking for any online reviews first. Big mistake. Fast forward about a week and I’d still not had a dispatch notification. So I emailed the company and got a quick and polite response telling me that they were running a bit behind with orders but that mine was about to be collected by the courier. Fair enough, I thought.
A few days later I’d still not received anything so I decided to Google the company name and up popped the Trustpilot reviews and my heart sank. I also came across a Facebook group dedicated to people who have been scammed by Not in the Dog House. In a panic I emailed the company a few more times but I never received another response. Even when I requested a refund.

I saw that people on the Facebook group had requested a charge back via their bank, so I did the same. This was very straight forward and I received my money back very quickly. So if you’re in the same boat, don’t panic. You will get your money back through your bank or credit card company.
The company was also featured on BBC Watchdog and has been reported to Trading Standards many times and yet their website is still up and running and taking orders. I can’t understand how this is allowed to happen. The company owner appears to have other businesses too, and the reviews are much the same on Trustpilot. This man is a scammer and needs to be stopped.
My hope in posting this is that people will see this article in the Google search results before making a purchase. Please leave me a comment if you’ve had problems with this company too.
Thank you for reading.
