YOUNG-TREPRENEURS | TURNING HOBBIES INTO BUSINESS

It really is the dream, isn’t it? Making an income from something that you love doing. Well this is becoming more and more common as young people all over the United Kingdom turn their hobbies into business. A recent AllDayPA study looked into this following the release of the Forbes 30 under 30 list 2022. Let’s find out more…

Young-trepreneurs

At the top of the list is 30 year old Ben Francis, CEO and owner of Gym Shark. This business has an estimated net worth of a whopping £900 million. Ben launched Gym Shark from his parents home in 2012 when he was just 19 years old.

Other names on the list include Finn Lagun, co-founder of Pasta Evangelists and Darcy Laceby, co-founder of Absolute Collagen. All of these incredible young people are showing the world what drive and determination can help to achieve.

Industry success

Retail and e-commerce is the most common industry among the 30 under 30, with a third of these young entrepreneurs earning their success through this type of business. Fashion and technology are also proving to be popular industries among young-trepreneurs.

“There’s more opportunity than ever before for younger generations to kickstart their careers, turning their passion projects into wildly successful and profitable business ventures. Today, there are businesses across all industries that are being built from the ground up by driven young individuals who are building their own brands from scratch – and in some cases, from the comfort of their own bedrooms.”

My story

While I may not be as successful as some of the young people mentioned in this campaign, I did start my own business at the relatively young age of 27. My blog started out solely as a hobby, something I had thought about doing for many years. It took a lot of time and commitment but I eventually started earning money from blogging and now, almost seven years on, it is my full time income. I adore my job and the flexibility it gives me around my family. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to make an income from my hobby. My personal advice would be to go for it, stick at it and accept any business guidance and training that comes your way.

“There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed.” – Ray Goforth, Executive Director for the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace
