ALTON TOWERS ROLLERCOASTER RESTAURANT | REVIEW

Alton Towers rollercoaster restaurant review

We recently spent a day at Alton Towers Resort and had lunch at the Rollercoaster Restaurant. It’s a really fun restaurant and completely unlike anywhere I’ve ever been before as your food is delivered to you on a rollercoaster track! Cool, right? Here’s our review…

The Rollercoaster Restaurant which first opened back in 2016, is located in the Forbidden Valley next to the Galactica ride and is the UK’s first rollercoaster restaurant.

“Located at Alton Towers Resort the Rollercoaster Restaurant is set below a vast rollercoaster track. Get together with friends, colleagues and family for a unique dining experience.”

The restaurant is open from 11am – 9.30pm throughout the season and offers two different menus depending on the time of day. I would recommend booking in advance if you plan to visit the Rollercoaster Restaurant as it was very busy when we were there, and it’s not hard to see why with such a unique restaurant.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to our table and explain the ordering process to us. We had to place our orders ourselves via a tablet, just another thing about the restaurant that was very unique.

After we’d ordered, it was a case of waiting for our food to come down to us on the rollercoaster track. The kids absolutely loved watching to see if the food coming down was for our table. I have to admit it was really cool watching your food loop the loop and spiral down eight metres to your table. And it’s a great way to keep the kids occupied while they wait for their food.

Our food came down in small dishes that were strapped on to the tracks. When it arrives, you simply take it off and plate it up.

Me and James shared a selection of starter dishes which were really good. The children chose from the kids menu and were both really happy with their meals. You can check out the Rollercoaster Restaurant sample menu here.

Price wise, the food is a little more expensive than you would expect to pay in your average restaurant. For example, a burger served with chips and coleslaw is priced at £14. But considering how unique this restaurant is, and the fact that it’s located within a theme park, I don’t think the prices are unreasonable at all.

We had a great time at the Rollercoaster Restaurant and would definitely go back next time we’re at Alton Towers. I would highly recommend a visit especially if you have children, they are guaranteed to love it! The food was great and the staff were really friendly and helpful. There’s also a really great atmosphere in the restaurant as everyone is having such a fun time watching the food make it’s way around the tracks.

Have you ever been to the Rollercoaster Restaurant at Alton Towers? I’d love to know what you thought to it?

Thank you for reading.
