A couple of weekends ago me and James headed to Birmingham for a night away just the two of us. It was the weekend of my 30th birthday and we wanted to do something a little bit different and having never been to Birmingham before we decided it would be nice to go and explore.
If you haven’t been following our UK cities checklist challenge, then you can head over and read my original post about it here. You can see which cities we’ve visited so far here. And please do let me know if you have any recommendations of where to visit next, things to do, places to eat etc. I find that recommendations from people that know the city well are always the best.
We stayed for one night at Hotel La Tour, which was lovely and I’m planning to do a seperate review post as it might be useful for anyone looking for a hotel in the centre of Birmingham. It’s in the perfect location, on the Eastside of the city and close to The Bull Ring, so perfect for a shopping trip. We ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening, which is a Marco Pierre White restaurant – Mr White’s English Chophouse, and the food was excellent, I would definitely recommend trying it out.
I have to be honest and admit that Birmingham isn’t my favourite city that I’ve visited so far, but it’s still a lovely place and really good for shopping! The Bull Ring area and Selfridges are great, we could have spent a fortune there.
On our second day in Birmingham we headed over for a walk along the canal, which was nice. There’s lots of bars and restaurants around the canal, so it’s a great location for an evening out.
Here’s some photos from our trip…
