Cineworld VIP review

Back in March we were kindly gifted a VIP experience for two at Cineworld Sheffield. What with work schedules and trying to arrange childcare it’s taken us until now to actually get round to going. Yep, that’s six whole months!

We decided to go and see The Nun, which has just been released last week. It’s the latest installment in The Conjuring series and is absolutely terrifying. If you’re into scary movies like we are, I definitely recommend this one.

VIP experience

The Cineworld VIP experience is currently only available at Sheffield and Glasgow branches and allows audiences to experience the next level in cinema comfort.

The VIP experience includes access to the exclusive VIP lounge, complimentary dining, luxury seats, as well as unlimited drinks and snacks to enjoy during the film.

Our screening time was 6pm but with VIP you are advised to arrive 45 minutes early to allow time to enjoy the complimentary buffet. As we arrived, we were greeted by a member of staff who asked if we had been to VIP before. We hadn’t, so we were given a quick tour of the lounge before taking a seat at one of the tables.

The buffet included salad, pizza, pasta, potatoes etc. The mac ‘n’ cheese with bacon was amazing! There’s also a selection of hot and cold drinks to choose from, as well as a private bar if you wish to purchase an alcoholic drink.

At 6pm the cinema screen doors were opened for us to go in and take our seats. The seats in VIP are luxury lazy boy reclining seats and are super comfy. You can control the footrest and recline of your seat from your control panel. You also get your own little table for your drinks and snacks.

Drinks and snacks are also included in the price of your VIP ticket and you can even go back out during the film to get more should you want to.

Is it worth the money?

You do get a lot included in VIP and it’s all unlimited, but it isn’t cheap at £29 per person (£19 for unlimited card holders). So is it really worth the money?

I have to say, we thoroughly enjoyed the VIP experience and would do it again as a special treat. For £29 each it’s definitely not something we are going to start doing regularly. But, if you take full advantage of the buffet, drinks and snacks you are more than getting your money’s worth.

I really enjoyed the luxury seats actually, more so than I thought I would. I didn’t even know I needed a luxury reclining seat at the cinema, I’d never seen a problem with normal cinema seating. But now, I totally get it. And I’d go as far as to say that I would be willing to pay a few extra quid just for a luxury seat at my next cinema trip!

So is it worth it? Yes, absolutely. As long as you are going in hungry and are going to make the most of the food on offer, you will absolutely get your money’s worth out of the experience. I think it’s a great way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion. We will definitely be going back again.

Have you experienced Cineworld VIP yet? What did you think?

Thank you for reading.
