On Day three of our trip to Granada we got up bright and early and headed to the Alhambra in the hope of finally getting tickets. They opened at 8:30am and we got there at around 9:30am but unfortunatley they were already sold out! We were pointed in the direction of their website and told to keep checking there but we decided to just book tickets for the Generalife gardens instead. Generalife is the summer palace and gardens of the Alhambra and is absolutely beautiful. Although I’m sad that we didn’t get to see the Alhambra itself, I am so glad that we got to visit Generalife.
After Generalife, we heading back to one of the gardens we’d briefly visited the day before. We hadn’t had the time to see it all so we wanted to go back and spend some more time exploring as it was such a beautiful place. The rest of the afternoon was spent browsing the shops and stalls in the Old Town with of course the odd stop for beer 😉 I’m not usually much of a beer drinker but there’s just something about sunshine and beer together, it’s a match made it heaven!
As this was our last day we managed to pack in A LOT. After a brief stop back at the hotel to freshen up we headed up to the hotels roof top for a couple of drinks. It’s absolutely amazing up there, blazing sunshine and incredible views over the city.
Our next stop before dinner was Saint Nicholas viewpoint where there are incredible views of the Alhambra and the city. It does get quite busy up there though as people try to get a good spot to watch the sunset, so we didn’t stick around for long.
Finally, after dinner we got the Granada City Tour bus back down to our hotel. The bus runs all day and you can hop on and off whenever you want. So it’s a great way of seeing many of the cities sites for not much money at all.
