MACDONALD BERYSTEDE HOTEL & SPA | REVIEW

Macdonald Berystede Hotel

A couple of weeks ago we spent two nights at the lovely Macdonald Berystede Hotel and Spa in Ascot. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, it felt very luxurious yet was suitable for families too.

Here are our thoughts on this beautiful 4 star rated hotel…

Location

The Macdonald Berystede Hotel is located close to Ascot racecourse and Legoland Windsor which was perfect for us as we were visiting both of these over the weekend. Royal Ascot was a short five minute drive from the hotel and Legoland around 15 minutes. Also close by is Royal Windsor racecourse and Windsor Castle, so there’s no shortage of things to do in the area.

The Berystede dates back to 1870 when it was built as a country estate for a young wealthy couple. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1886 and later remained derelict for some time. In 1903 the Berystede greeted the new century not as a private house but instead as a grand hotel. The hotel has changed hands a few times over the years but has always maintained its close association with Royal Ascot racecourse.

The room

The Berystede hotel has 126 individually-styled luxury bedrooms in total. We stayed in a deluxe room which included a double bed and two single beds for the children. Our room also had a bath, TV, a spacious desk area, as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms also include free wifi.

“The rooms at our stylish Berkshire hotel feature contemporary design, plush, soft furnishings and luxury en-suite bathrooms. There are a host of little things that make the difference too. For example air conditioning, satellite TV and a well-stocked mini bar. All combine to make life that little bit more comfortable.”

Food

We enjoyed a three course dinner in the hotels Acanthus restaurant one evening which was absolutely delicious. Dinner is served 7pm – 9:30pm each evening and a children’s menu is also available.

“Our newly refurbished Acanthus Restaurant will appeal to those who appreciate a relaxed approach to award-winning dining.  With banquet seating, a cosy snug perfect for private hire and a stylish design, this is the place to eat in Ascot.  Large windows overlook our Royal Enclosure Patio and fill the restaurant with natural light.”

Breakfast the next morning was equally enjoyable with a great selection to choose from including pastries, cereals, cooked breakfast, plus hot and cold drinks.

Spa and fitness

The hotel has it’s own spa and gym facilities on site and we took full advantage of the indoor pool during our stay. Children are welcome to swim 9am-11am & 4pm-7pm. There’s also an outdoor hydrotherapy pool which is fantastic and super relaxing, I didn’t want to get out of it!

Our thoughts

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Macdonald Berystede Hotel and would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a family friendly hotel in the Ascot area. The room was fantastic, we really couldn’t have asked for a better room. Plus the indoor pool, outdoor space for the children to run around and the kids menus made it perfect for us.

Price wise, we paid £292 for two adults and two children. This was for one night and included breakfast and a three course dinner. Considering everything that was included, the ideal location of the hotel and luxury feel I think this is a reasonable price to pay.

Thank you for reading.

*Disclaimer – Our first night at The Berystede Hotel was paid for by a brand we are currently working with, however we paid for the second night and food ourselves*
