Last week we said goodbye to our labrador, Louis. It was very sudden and such a shock to us all. I wanted to share some of my favourite photos from the past seven years, I’ve also put together a video with lots of photos and a few video clips which I will include at the bottom of this post. It’s times like this that I am super grateful for Facebook because I don’t have the original video clips anymore so if I hadn’t uploaded them to Facebook then I wouldn’t have these precious memories now.
I want this to be a happy post with our happy memories so I don’t want to go into his death too much but I will just briefly explain what happened for anyone that wants to know. Louis was only seven so of course we didn’t expect him to pass away any time soon but he became ill over the space of a few days, he was throwing up, not eating and eventually stopped drinking too so we took him to the vets. X-rays showed a mass which we assumed was something he had eaten as he was notorious for doing that! He was operated on but the mass turned out to be cancer, and really aggressive cancer so he sadly had to be put to sleep.
Don’t get me wrong, he was a massive pain in the bum and I complained about him a lot, he barked constantly, was completely crazy, pulled on the lead like you wouldn’t believe and was a smelly sod but we wish we hadn’t had to say goodbye quite so soon.
Most of these photos are old phone camera photos that are really poor quality but I am so glad we still have them. I’ve noticed that I have so many photos from before Max came along and then quite a lot from when Max was a baby but by the time Evie came along the photos of Louis get fewer and further between, I guess life just got busy. A few weeks ago I got a new camera lens and took a load of photos of him out in the garden, and he even joined in with our me and mine photos that month! And I am so glad now that he did 🙂
Thanks for reading.

Emma, I am so sorry for your loss. Louis looks so happy and so comfortable in your pics and video. Cancer is such an awful thing and when it takes a family member, it is the worst. Shame, you all are going to miss him so much. RIP Louis you are loved. Love and hugs. x

A beautiful dog who clearly had a wonderful life. He clearly enriched the lives of the whole family.xxx #KCACOLS
RIP to your gorgeous Louis. I love the video of him in the snow and the one of him watching the other dogs on the tv! My lovely old dog Polly has just been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and has gone down hill rapidly. We’ve thought we might have to put her to sleep a few times but she keeps going and her tail keeps wagging so for now we’re keeping her as happy and comfortable as we can until she tells us she’s had enough…not quite sure how I will cope on that day :-(. #KCACOLS
Such a beautiful dog. Labradors are my favourite dogs, and he was a beauty. Sorry for your loss. #KCACOLS

So sad. Saying goodbye never gets any easier. Maybe that’s how it should be. Maybe the pain is what cements them in our hearts forever. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next time
That’s so sad – a member of your family – thinking of you xx #KCACOLS
