Earlier this week was Max’s 8th birthday, I’m really not sure how I’m old enough to have an eight year old. It’s crazy!
We started the day at Center Parcs, where we’d spent the weekend. We’ve never been away on his birthday before and wanted to make it as special as it would have been at home. So we put up a big happy birthday banner and brought his presents with us.
His main present from us was an iPod Touch, he’s been after one for ages and there wasn’t really anything else he wanted so we thought we would treat him. These photos really make me laugh, look at the joy on his face as he realises what it is…
We then went to The Pancake House for breakfast, because if you can’t have a cookie monster pancake stack on your birthday, when can you? The staff there also brought him over a birthday cocktail and balloon, which I thought was really lovely of them.
We then packed up and headed home. We’d given Max the option to go to school for the afternoon, or stay home and he’d chosen to go to school. This is the first time he’d ever been at school on his birthday and he enjoyed his class singing happy birthday to him.
After a few hours at school it was back home to take a few obligatory birthday balloon photos!
Next we went round to my mum’s house for more presents and of course birthday cake. We let Max choose what he wanted to eat and he went for a Chinese takeaway, I definitely wasn’t going to argue with that!
Max had a great birthday and we all enjoyed making it special for him. Now if only he would slow down a bit because he’s getting scarily close to double figures and the teenage years! Eek.
