Not Perfect

I share so much of my life on my blog and on social media and truth be told, most of what I share is the good bits, the happy moments and the pretty photos. Nobody wants to see photos of my messy house, my children crying or me shouting, right? So I just wanted to make something clear, we are not perfect, in fact we are far from it.

When we went to Bluestone a couple of weeks ago it really got me thinking about this image that we put across of ourselves on the internet and how that compares to reality. My kids are not easy kids, as you all know our son Max has Aspergers which brings it’s own challenges and Evie copies a lot of her brothers behaviour. She has become really quite difficult at times over recent months, she’s definitely got the whole four year old diva attitude going on. For whatever reason, at Bluestone both kids were on their worst behaviour for most of the trip. The car journey there was nothing but moaning and fighting, they moaned constantly about walking, they gave us attitude, answered back, they cried, we shouted.

I was walking around the park seeing all these well behaved children and happy families having a great time and our children were just being down right rotten. I was also well aware of the fact that there were other bloggers staying at Bluestone at the same time as us and it got me worrying about what they would think of us if they saw the kids misbehaving or us shouting. Would they think that what I put across on the internet is totally fake?

Now don’t get me wrong we really did have a great time at Bluestone, there were some wonderful times but also a lot of tough ones. Although I might share all the nice photos, I try to keep my blog posts and captions on social media as honest as possible. If I’ve had a bad day I’ll say so. But at the end of the day, there’s only so much moaning people want to read.

So yes, I do share the best parts of my life, whilst still trying to be honest and get the balance right. But the reality is if you see us out somewhere we might not always look as happy as we do in the photos. Our life definitely isn’t perfect, and sometimes it’s bloody hard, but then sometimes it’s amazing and I wouldn’t ever change it.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is that we might not be perfect, but this is our perfect.

Thanks for reading.

I totally get this, well done for being honest. I’ve just had a brutal day with my toddler so it’s refreshing to read this.

Don’t feel you need to explain what you chose to be comfortable in sharing about your life. We know that the bloggers that focus on presenting the messy, hectic side of life with kids also have good & great moments. We just don’t hear about them so much ?
