bbq Wilko

Last weekend we had our first ever family BBQ and I’m pleased to say it was a complete success! We had the perfect weather for it (hello heatwave!), the football and a brand spanking new BBQ and accessories, thanks to Wilko.

We are big Wilko fans in our house and I’m in there at least once a week for anything from dog treats to deodorant. I love the variety, you just know that they’ll have whatever you’re looking for. And even if you aren’t looking for anything in particular its great for a browse!

To celebrate the opening of the new Wilko store at St James’ Retail Park here in Sheffield, Wilko challenge us to head to the new store to purchase everything we needed for a family BBQ, for no more than £100. £100 might sound like a lot of money but actually when you think about the cost of a BBQ alone, I was worried that we might not be able to do it.

On Saturday morning we headed over to the brand new store at St James’ Retail Park armed with our £100 gift card. The store is fantastic – it’s bright, spacious and well laid out with each section of the store clearly signposted.

We found the BBQ’s on display at the front of the store as soon as we walked in, which made life easier. There were quite a few different options available to us but in the end we opted for the charcoal oil drum BBQ for the bargain price of £45.

As well as the BBQ we also picked up a picnic rug, two cushions, two bowls, two citronella candles (great for repelling those pesky flies!), a pitcher, two tumblers, two champagne flutes, four plates, a big old bag of charcoal, BBQ utensils, some bubbles for the kids and tin foil all for £100 which I think is fantastic value.

I fell in love with the gorgeous tropical patterns and bright colours. If you know me, you’ll know that I’m a sucker for anything colourful, so the Wilko outdoor range was right up my street .

After the football we got started with our BBQ. We played some games, listened to music, chatted and of course had a glass of prosecco (or two!). The BBQ is definitely my husbands forte and I have to say he did brilliantly with the food. I mean, just look at this lot…

Here’s a few more snaps from our BBQ…

If you’re local to Sheffield I would highly recommend a trip to the new Wilko store at St James’ Retail Park, just off the Bochum Parkway. If you’re not, you can always check out Wilko’s fantastic range of summer BBQ and other outdoor items here.

A massive thank you to Wilko for making this little family BBQ possible. Let’s hope the sun sticks around so that we can enjoy a few more BBQ’s this summer.

Are you enjoying BBQ season as much as we are?

Thank you for reading.
