The Ordinary Moments | Feeling Festive

I absolutely love Christmas but this year I’ve struggled to get into the festive spirit, I realise it’s only November but it’s definitely taken me longer than it usually does. I think it’s because I’ve been so busy I haven’t really had time to think about it. This week it finally caught up with me and I can now say I am feeling Christmasy and I’m really looking forward to all the festive plans we have over the coming weeks.

We got our first glimpse of Santa on Tuesday as we went to the Santa Parade at Meadowhall. It’s the fourth year that we’ve been to watch the parade so it’s become a bit of a family tradition now and kind of marks the start of Christmas for us.

The parade goes through the shopping centre and outside to where Santas grotto is located. There’s a brass band playing Christmas songs and there’s even fake snow and fireworks! The whole thing only lasts about 45 minutes but it’s completely free and the kids love it. It’s just brilliant watching their little faces when they see Santa on his sleigh.

Excuse the poor quality of these photos, they were taken on my phone but I still love them.

I then made a Christmas cake on Wednesday, the first Christmas cake I’ve ever made and although I’m yet to ice it and taste it, I think it’s turned out pretty well. Now we just need to get our Christmas tree up and I’ll really be feeling festive!

Are you feeling Christmasy yet?

Thanks for reading.

This actually sounds like a lot of fun. I think my nutty kids would love seeing santa, fireworks and fake snow – who needs lapland ay? haha.
I long to feel christmassy again, but its something I really have to work at and struggle with since losing our little girl 2 years ago. x

I don’t start to get in the Christmas mood until after my Mum’s birthday, which is coming up soon. Then I feel like we can start thinking about Christmas. Well done on the Christmas cake, I am not that brave! x #theordinarymoments
