Today is our fifth wedding anniversary! In some ways it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long but on the other hand it feels like we’ve always been married. So much has happened in those five years, our then toddler is now a big boy and we now have Evie too! And not just that but both me and James have grown up so much in that time, looking back at our wedding photos now I can’t believe how young we looked (mainly James!).
We got married at Whitley Hall Hotel here in Sheffield, I actually don’t have any photos of the outside which is sad but if you want to have a peak just click on the link. We were thinking about having a night away there to celebrate our anniversary this year but unfortunately they were fully booked due to another wedding. Maybe next year we will go and I will definitely do a blog post on it as it is such a gorgeous place.
Max was 16 months old on our wedding day and it was so lovely to have him there, he behaved so well and loved the attention from everyone. I was also six weeks pregnant with Evie at the time but it was mine and James’ little secret, nobody else knew and so I spent the day feel pretty tired, hormonal and pretending to sip wine!
As part of our wedding package we got a voucher for a night at the hotel at a later date, I guess most people would use that on their first wedding anniversary but we knew we would have a baby that we might not want to leave so we had our night away in the March, seven months after our wedding. I was 36 weeks pregnant with Evie so heavily pregnant but I still thought I had a few weeks left. We enjoyed our night but then the next morning I was woken at about 6am to my waters breaking, in the bed! And Evie was born just a few hours later. If you know me, you’ll probably already know that story as it’s one of my favourites to tell! It’s safe to say Whitley Hall Hotel holds a lot of memories for us!
As for my dress, it was exactly what I wanted. There’s a lot that I would do differently now but I wouldn’t change the dress…
Our colours scheme was pink, but a dusky/antique pink. The bridesmaid dresses and flowers were the perfect colours, exactly what I wanted. And believe it or not we got the bridesmaid dresses from eBay, they came from China and were super cheap. I ordered one to start with just to see what they were like as obviously I was sceptical about the quality, but apart from needing alterations they were really good.
Looking back over these photos has got me all emotional, I wish I could go back and do it all again and appreciate the day a little more. There’s so much pressure on the day for everything to go perfectly and I think I got a little bit lost in that.
I wanted to just share a few of my favourite photos from the day but there’s just so many that I love! Here they are…
