We’ve been trying out the BAFTA award winning wildlife app Virry over the past few days and Max is obsessed! He’s been on it pretty much constantly since we downloaded it, so it must be good!
Virry is an incredible, unique and educational game experience for kids to interact with wild animals and watch them live! It’s nothing like you have seen or done before.
The app features lions, rhinos, giraffes, meerkats and last week orangutans, flamingos and fruit bats were also added to the app.
The Virry app was created in partnership with Durrel Wildlife Park, the creation of late British conservationist, Gerald Durrell.
Svetlana Dragayeva, the founder of VirryApp, said: “I’m delighted to be able to honour Gerald Durrell’s vision for wildlife by furthering our relationship with his wildlife park in Jersey. We founded Virry, with a team of child development specialists and conservationists, in order to provide a unique experience for children to learn about animals in their natural habitat as well as developing their own emotional skills, such as patience and empathy. This is another major step for Virry in fulfilling its objective of rethinking the way humans interact with wildlife.”
Virry already has 75,000 users around the world and this number is expected to increase following the release of more animals, and I can totally see why it is so popular.
Not only can children play games related to each animal, but they can also watch them live! We actually got to see a lion playing with a pumpkin, which was pretty amazing!
Children can learn so much from this app, Max now knows why a flamingos leg bends the wrong way, why they stand on one foot and why they are pink! Pretty impressive for a five year old!
The Virry app is available to download on all Apple devices and soon to be released for Android and Google Glasses. For more information please click here.
