10 THINGS TO DO ON A WEEKEND BREAK IN LONDON

I haven’t been to London for a few years but I am itching to go back again. The last time we took the kids they were only small, I think they would get so much more out of a trip now that they are a little older. So it’s time to start planning!

Here are 10 great things to do on a weekend break in London…

1. Visit Westminster

First up is the Westminster area of the city. Here you’ll find Westminster Bridge, Westminster Abbey, The Palace of Westminster, House of Commons, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and Downing Street. You could pass a whole day in this area alone!

2. Buckingham Palace

You simply can’t visit London without going to see Buckingham Palace. And just a few minutes walk from Buckingham Palace is Clarence House. After this you could head for a stroll around beautiful Green Park, which is right next door.

3. Shopping on Oxford Street

There are so many great places to shop in London, but Oxford Street has to be the best. Especially at Christmas time when all the lights and decorations are up. You could wander down to Regent Street and Bond Street also.

If you have your luggage with you, because you haven’t yet checked in to your hotel or you’ve already checked out, it would be a good idea to put it in storage. Nobody wants to drag heavy bags around with them all day, and especially not while shopping. Stasher offer luggage storage in London at great prices. Most of their facilities are open 24/7 so you can choose a drop off and pick up time that is convenient for you.

4. Notting Hill

This is an area that I haven’t been to yet so it’s definitely on my list for our next trip to London. You could time your visit with the fabulous Notting Hill Carnival, visit Portobello Market or even take a Notting Hill film tour.

5. Natural History Museum

A great one to do especially if you are travelling with children. The Natural History Museum in South Kensington will keep you occupied for hours. From the 31st March you’ll be able to see Patagotitan Mayorum on display, one of the largest known creatures to have ever walked our planet.

6. Tower Bridge

The iconic Tower Bridge is definitely one to add to your itinerary. You can purchase tickets to go inside and experience the glass floor and amazing panoramic views of the city.

7. Covent Garden

Another great shopping spot is Covent Garden. Here you will find great restaurants and shops such as Chanel, Dior Beauty, Free People, Ganni, Glossier and many more. If you’re looking for a restaurant in the area you should check out Square Meal, where you will find all the best local restaurants. You’ll also be able to read reviews and even earn rewards just for enjoying a meal out!

8. Borough Market

Borough Market is London’s premier food market. It’s the perfect place to head to at lunch time so you can experience some of the amazing food on offer. Here you’ll find traders offering cheese, fish, charcuterie, bao buns, bakery goods, cakes, wine, coffee and much more.

9. Chinatown

Head to China for a little bit of Chinese culture in London. Here you’ll find Chinese food and drink, as well as Chinese style decorations. China town is close to Leicester Square, so you could easily tie the two in together.

10. London Eye

The London Eye is the tallest observation wheel in Europe and welcomes over three million visitors a year. It’s always best to book your tickets for the London Eye in advance as it is a popular attraction and can get booked up at busy times.

Have you visited London recently? I’d love to know what you did while you were there. Leave me a comment and let me know!
