BOYS PINK BEDROOM MAKEOVER

boys pink bedroom

We’re nine months into our renovation now and I’m pleased to say we are pretty much finished with the inside of the house. I’m planning on doing a blog post going into a little more detail so I won’t blab on too much right now. Max’s boys pink bedroom has been finished for a couple of months now and I’m only just getting round to sharing it. Trying to work and renovate a house doesn’t leave much time for me to create this sort of content unfortunately. But that should start to change now that we’re coming to the end of the reno.

Let’s just remind ourselves of what Max’s bedroom looked like when we first moved in…

That wallpaper was something else, wasn’t it?! We started off with stripping the wallpaper in here, including on the ceiling which was a challenge. Then came the rewire. This room just had a light pull in the middle of the room, no switch at all. Max now has a centralised pendant light, a switch and we also added a wall light next to his bed.

Here’s the moodboard I created for Max’s boys pink bedroom. It’s pretty spot on actually!

And here’s what the room is looking like now…

We knew that we wanted to do mainly white walls in Max’s room, to keep it bright. But we also wanted to add some sort of feature wall. As you can see on the moodboard, I had originally thought about doing pink and green together. Max was 100% sure he wanted pink somewhere in the room, and in the end we just went with the pink and I think it looks great.

The colour is Marshmallow from Wilko.

I did still want to add some green, so we got this green wall light from made.com, as well as the M cushion that we already had. The lion cushion was from Habitat, I’d seen it months ago and just had to have it in one of the kids rooms. Cute, isn’t it?

Max’s bedding is from Furn and is available in a few different colours. I love how quirky it is and it’s currently in the sale for just £14.25!

Because the room is so small, we wanted to keep as much floor space clear as possible. We had originally had a chest of drawers at the end of his bed but it was just too cramped so we got rid of it. Instead we added a toy basket for all his stuffed animals, he has quite a collection! And he really doesn’t need the storage space as his build in wardrobes are huge, plus he has under bed storage too. We also decided to wall mount his TV to save floor space.

Max has a large built in wardrobe in his bedroom which we did consider removing but we decided to keep in the end because we really do need the storage space. But we needed to try and spruce them up a little bit. We started by repainting them white. They were white previously but yellowing gloss that needed a refresh. We swapped the handles for black ones, which tie in well with his black wall print and black light pendant. Then we added panelling to the upper wardrobe doors by gluing on wooden batons. It’s made a huge difference to the dated wardrobe doors and I’m so pleased with how it looks now. What do you think?

I think that’s about it as far as Max’s bedroom goes. Please feel free to ask me any questions I may have missed.

What do you think to this boys pink bedroom?

Thank you for reading.
