We moved into our home 18 months ago and of course the inside of the house was the priority for the first year. With the interior now complete, we knew that this year was going to be all about the garden transformation. And boy did we have a task on our hands!
I would say that our garden is now three quarters finished, there’s just one side of the garden that we are still working on that you won’t see in these photos. I plan to follow up with a part two soon which will include lots of before, during and after photos. So stay tuned for that.
So this garden transformation began in February, a whole five months ago. And for a long time we were demolishing and filling skips before we could even start thinking about making it look pretty. Eventually we started to see progress when the new turf went down, we started laying the paving, built a new shed and painted the fence panels. I cannot believe the difference it’s all made, it really doesn’t even look like the same garden.
Below is a photo I took while the renovations to the house were going on last summer…

And here’s what she’s looking like now…

We’ve tried to save money where possible by doing the work ourselves, shopping around and keeping our old garden furniture. My only splurge was the egg chair, which was still a bargain from Lidl of all places. I think it looks amazing and it’s really comfortable too.
We were kindly gifted our festoon lights from Lights4fun. I knew I wanted festoon lights even before we started working on the garden and I am so pleased with how they look. These ones are the Core Connect festoons, they come in 5m lengths which you can connect together to get the length you want. Ours are 10m which is perfect for our space.

I also added lots of new plants to the garden, I’m definitely no gardener but I’m learning. Next year we hope to add a raised bed at the top of the garden so that we can add some trees for privacy. But for now, I’m making do with my potted plants. As you can see my wisteria is absolutely thriving which I’m so pleased about.

The wreath on our shed is also from Lights4fun. I think it’s the perfect addition and really pops against the dark paint. The wreath comes with little fairy lights to wrap around the wreath, it looks super pretty lit up at night.

Finally from Lights4fun we received these beautiful lanterns. They come as a pair and include the two TruGlow waterproof candles. The lanterns are battery operated and can be set on a six hour timer. I really like chunky rope handles and the realistic glow these give in an evening.

I have shared a few videos of our garden progress on TikTok so please go and check those out if you’d like to see more. One of the most common questions I’ve been asked on TikTok and Instagram is about the fence paint colour and I can see why, it’s gorgeous! It’s called Urban Slate by Cuprinol Garden Shades. It went on with a sprayer really easily and has completely transformed our old and tatty fence panels.

What do you think to our garden transformation so far? If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them in the comments.
Thank you for reading.
