Hey! I’m back with another renovation update. It’s been another good month for progress on the house and the light is well and truly at the end of the tunnel now. I *might* just have a completed kitchen by my next update and I am so excited.
Our kitchen is being delivered this weekend, hopefully that will start being fitted next week. We will have a little longer to wait for the worktops as they are quartz and need to be templated which can’t be done until the kitchen is completely fitted and fixed to the walls. After the worktops have been installed I think the only thing we’ll be waiting for is the tiling. We’ve already picked and ordered the tiles though so at least that’s a job ticked off.
We have booked the wood flooring fitting for the week after next, as well as the carpet fitting… finally! I feel like I’ve waited a lifetime for these carpets to go down, we ordered them back in November last year! I will be so glad to see the back of these filthy floorboards.
Because we’ve booked the carpet fitting, it’s been all systems go with the decorating. Mist coating alone has taken ages but we’re now on to the main paint coat and things are really starting to take shape. We had hoped to hire a decorator to help with this but money is really tight now so our budget just wouldn’t stretch that far.

The kitchen has been plastered and second fix electrics have been done. We’ve just done the mist coat on the plaster this past week so we’re ready for more paint over the coming days. We have a plumber in tomorrow to install the radiators and then it’s just the kitchen and flooring left to do.

The downstairs toilet has been plastered and the sink and toilet have been ordered but we’re still waiting on those. That shouldn’t be a big job though, I do expect it to be finished by my next update. It will be such a luxury to have a second toilet in the house again! That was one thing I loved about our last house.
Our garden is in such a state after all these renovations but I think realistically tidying it up will have to wait until next year. We have an old greenhouse and playhouse to knock down, plus lots of digging and soil to remove. We’ll need a couple of skips for soil for sure. With so much still to do in the house I think the weather will have turned before we get round to the garden, so my plan is to start on that in the spring.
So that’s about it for this month’s update. Things are starting to move quickly and it’s all very exciting. I can’t wait to update you next month as we should be very close to being finished.
Thank you for reading.
