Child nutrition author Annabel Karmel released her new book – Real Food Kids Will Love earlier on this week and we were lucky enough to get our hands on a couple of copies. I’m giving one of these copies away in this post, so scroll to the bottom if you’d like to enter.
The book contains over 100 easy and delicious recipes for toddlers and up. My two little ones are five and seven and the recipes are perfect for them. In fact, the recipes are suitable for the whole family to enjoy together.
With over 100 delicious recipes packed with nutrition and flavour, Annabel Karmel makes it simple to feed toddlers and young children. These fast and fun dishes will encourage even the fussiest of eaters in the family to get stuck in. Real Food Kids Will Love features 15-minute dinners for busy school nights, meat-free meals, healthy alternatives to favourite takeaway, treats that are healthier than they seem, and festive-themed show-stoppers for those special occasions.
Both of my children are very fussy eaters so I was excited to see how the recipes in this book would go down with them. The first recipe we chose to make was oat, raisin and sunflower seed cookies. They were super quick and simple to make and went down really well with the children (and the grown ups!).
The book is split up into seven different categories so there’s something to suit everyone. I particularly like the 15-minute meals because as a busy family we don’t always have much time to spend cooking, especially on school evenings.
The meat-free & Vegan category is also great. Despite the fact that we are far from vegetarian or vegan the recipes look amazing, and really easy to prepare. Sweet potato wedges with corn salsa is one dish that particularly stands out and we will definitely be trying soon!
I read through the book together with the children as I thought it would be a good way to get them involved and let them pick out some meals that they would like to try. We’ve decided that next on our list is teriyaki beef stir-fry, closely followed by chicken with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and basil and yummy chicken quesadilla.
Don’t they look delicious?…
At the back of the book you’ll also find a fruit and veg reward chart which is a great way to encourage little ones to eat their five a day.
Psst! Did you now that eating 5 portions of fruit and veg a day helps you to grow up healthy and strong? That’s why you should take our fun fruit-n-veggie sticker challenge. Get a grow-up to help you to count the number of fruit and veg portions you eat each day. If you gobble up 5+ every day you get a sticker, and if you get 5+ stickers in a week you get a reward. If you get 5+ stickers every week for a whole month you get a prize!
