The Siblings Project | January

I’ve been umming and ahhing about whether to continue with The Siblings Project because I felt like I was just writing the same thing each month, that they kids fight a lot blah blah blah and to be honest, I was fed up of moaning about it.

Things haven’t changed, they fight, they make up, they are the cutest best buddies and then they fight again. But then I remembered the reason why I started joining in with The Siblings Project in the first place, firstly to create a record of my children as they grown up together but also because I love taking photos. So I don’t want to stop doing this just because they are fighting a lot, I want to continue doing what I love and if some months that means I don’t have much to write about then so be it, at least I’ll have beautiful memories of two of my favourite people.

Right, enough waffling and on with the post…

Rather than talking about the fighting over the past month I’m going to focus on the positives, and today has actually been a really lovely day, for the most part the kids have got along really well. They played in Max’s room this morning and even had a little disco! Which was really cute.

We went to the park this afternoon and on the way over there we spotted some snow as we were high up in the hills, so we stopped to have a little play. It was so cute to watch them playing together and to see how excited they were about a tiny bit of snow. Max said at one point “This is so exciting Evie, isn’t it?” and I absolutely love that they can share these moments together.

At the start of a brand new year, I’ve decided that I really want to make more of an effort with my photography, but that can be difficult when your kids don’t like posing for photos! So I think the way forward is to try and get more candid photos, rather than asking them to sit and smile at the camera. This was pretty much my approach this month and it worked out quite well I think…

Thanks for reading.

Love their matching shoes too cute. It looks like they enjoy their outdoor adventures together and playing on the park. I love memories of being outdoors with my own siblings it’s such a great way to let them explore the world together. These are adorable. I look forward to the year of #siblingsproject ahead with your little ones.

I agree trying to get photos of my two sat looking at the camera is not easy at the moment. I’m definitely in the camp of catching photos while they are in the moment. Gorgeous photos and I’m pleased you made the decision to carry on with these posts X

What a pair of cuties! I’ve always found the best photos of my two have been when they didn’t realise that I was taking a photo. They just look so much happier and relaxed. Gorgeous photos.

These are lovely photos. I have decided that now there is camera aversion here too that candid shots are the way forward! x

You are absolutely right – the actual writing of the Siblings posts can get a bit monotonous – but it’s the photos that matter. And these are glorious photos!

I love your sibling project. My husband and I never had brothers or sisters and so I love watching my son and daughter and their relationship, all the highs and lows. There are lots of lows but sometimes there is amazing highs. And I love the candid, sometimes I think candid shots are actually way way better than staged ones.
