The Siblings Project | May

May is proving to be a great month for us as family and for these two little cuties. I feel like we’ve crammed so much in already with our trip to Bluestone and we’re only half way through the month!

While we were at Bluestone these two decided that they wanted to share a room, something which is usually disastrous but this time it worked, and they really enjoyed spending time together and their little late night chats.

Something else I noticed at Bluestone was a real change in their relationship, or maybe more of change in Evie. They made a few little friends but these friendships were completely instigated by Evie, which is definitely not the norm. Usually Max is the one who is charge, the leader and the more confident one of the two, and Evie follows. But not anymore, it seems their roles seem to have reversed and I’ve really noticed Evie’s confidence grow.

As ever, they have been fighting quite a lot but I feel like I’ve kind of found some sort of peace with it in a way. Rather than shouting at them and trying to figure out a way to stop it, I’m just letting them get on with it, unless of course one of them is really in the wrong. Fighting between siblings is completely normal, and they have to learn how to share and how to solve their differences. If I’m always stepping in to sort it out, the way I see it is that they will never learn. I think that this has helped Evie’s confidence a lot as I mentioned above and she no longer backs down to Max.

This months photos were taken in the bluebell woods and although the kids weren’t keen on sitting still, I’m so pleased with how these photos turned out. This is them on a good day, no fighting, just pure sibling love…

Thanks for reading.

Great pictures! It’s so sweet that they wanted to share a room on your holidays. I completely agree with you, there needs to be the occasional fight between siblings in order for them to truly appreciate each other. #thesiblingsproject

Aah I feel so much better reading that someone else’s children have been fighting with each other- I wrote similar in this month’s siblings post, but I think I need to take a leaf out of your book and just try and let it go a little more as I’m always trying to stop it but it’s often futile!
