Our current car has served us well for the past five years, it’s been a great family vehicle but it’s definitely coming to the end of it’s life now. So we are starting to consider our options when it comes to new cars, and something we are thinking about is electric. There’s many reasons for this, so I thought I would share them in this post…

Better for the environment

First and foremost, electric cars are much better for the environment than cars that run on fuel. Because they run purely on electricity, they do not release any pollution into the atmosphere. There are of course emissions created during the manufacturing of the vehicle but over it’s lifetime emissions are still much lower than that of a petrol or diesel car.

Cheaper to run

Although there is the initial outlay for the vehicle itself, in the long run you will actually save money with an electric car. This is because you don’t need to buy any fuel. Can you imagine the savings if you didn’t need to fill your car with petrol every week?! It’s also worth noting that most electric cars are exempt from road tax here in the UK, which is another added bonus.

They save time

As a busy family we are always looking for ways to save time and an electric car would allow us to do this. An electric car can be charged at home overnight, so it’s ready to go in the morning. So when you are in a rush to get the kids to school in the morning you don’t have to worry about allowing extra journey time to go and get fuel.

EV Cable Shop sells a wide range of electric car charging cables including brands such as Volvo, Mercedes, Nissan, Lexus and more. Their website is really helpful and you’ll be able to easily find the exact type of cable you require for your vehicle.

They are quiet

Electric cars are silent, which means a more peaceful driving experience. This is great when you have young children as it means they can easily nap in the car without worrying that they will get woken up by the noise from the car.

Cheaper to maintain

There are fewer parts in electric cars, which means fewer parts to fail. They are generally much more reliable than an average car and last longer as there’s less wear and tear.

Do you have an electric car, or are you considering buying one? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Thank you for reading.
