Egypt is somewhere that I have always wanted to visit. It’s an amazing country, full of history, with so much to see and do. But where do you start? With so many places to visit, it’s important to plan out your trip in as much detail as possible to ensure you have the best holiday and experience as much as you can.
Below you will find six incredible places to visit in Egypt…
1. The Pyramids of Giza
Probably the most well known attraction in the whole of Egypt, the Pyramids of Giza draw in over 14 million people every year. Dating back over 4,500 years, the pyramids were built by Egyptian kings and for a long time they were the tallest man made structures in the world. When visiting the pyramids, it is recommended that you go during the winter months when it is quieter. But if you do visit in summer, make sure you go in the morning before it becomes too hot.
2. Sharm El Sheikh
Sharm El Sheikh is a popular tourist resort, known for it’s sandy beaches, clear waters and coral reefs. Why not give snorkelling a go, or swim with dolphins while you’re there? There are lots of Sharm El Sheikh excursions to consider when planning your trip, including sand dune buggies and camel rides.
3. Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings is located near Luxor and is the final resting place of many Egyptian royals, including Tutankhamun. As with the Pyramids of Giza, it is best to visit the Valley of Kings during the winter months when temperatures are much cooler.

4. The Egyptian Museum
The Egyptian Museum is located in Cairo, and is home to the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world. You’ll find over 120,000 items on display here, including Tutankhamun’s beautiful gold death mask and sarcophagus. The museum is only around 30 minutes from the Pyramids of Giza so it would be possible to tie both of these activities in to one day.
5. Karnak Temple
Located close to the city of Luxor, the Karnak Temple complex includes temples, chapels, pylons as well as other buildings. It is the second most visited tourist attraction in Egypt, after the Pyramids of Giza. The complex is not too far from the Valley of the Kings, so the two could be done in one day if you are on a tight schedule. If you need some help planning your trips and excursions, Landious Travel offer many tours across Egypt and are definitely worth checking out.
6. The River Nile
Why not take a cruise along the River Nile during your trip to Egypt? This is something that I have always wanted to do. This could be a seven night trip on a cruise ship, or a short boat trip, either way it’s bound to be a magical experience. Definitely one to add to the bucket list.
