FAMILY VACATIONS THAT WON’T BREAK THE BANK

Going on vacation is essential if you want to live in a happy, healthy household. It’s a fantastic way to break the routine, bond and make precious, everlasting memories. But memorable family vacations don’t have to cost a small fortune. In fact, budget holidays can be unique and rewarding compared to luxury hotels. So, to help stretch your household budget, I’ve listed six family vacations that won’t break the bank below.

#1 – Camping on the Southwest Coast

Camping is one of the most affordable family vacation options and is truly the best way to connect with nature and teach kids the benefits of simple living. Renting a pitch on campsites costs almost nothing compared to staying in a hotel. When you invest in the initial supplies, you can use them to enjoy many future camping holidays.

One of the best places to go camping is the Southwest Coast, where you can explore the Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, visit the Eden Project, or go on an adventure to the historic Stonehenge or Glastonbury Tor. The Southwest also has an outstanding coastline. The Cornish coast is home to some of the finest beaches in the UK and is the perfect place for the whole family to enjoy watersports.

#2 – Glamping in Snowdonia

Glamping is an economical family vacation option and a step up from regular camping. For a small extra cost – your family can camp comfortably with heating and built-in amenities. Snowdonia in North Wales is one of the best places to go glamping on a budget.

The Snowdonia National Park has something to offer all ages but is particularly good for active, outdoor families or ones with teenagers. In Snowdonia, you can get lost in the mystical Welsh countryside with its many rivers and waterfalls. You can explore underground caverns, visit a traditional slate mine or hike the great Yr. Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon). Small children can also have endless fun at one of the many family activity parks.

North Wales is also full of mediaeval castles, and to see the finest example, head to Conway. You can also visit Anglesey for a fun family day out.

#3 – Stay at a Holiday Park in North Yorkshire

Next on our list of family vacations that won’t break the bank is staying at a holiday park in North Yorkshire. Holiday parks offer a range of accommodation and facilities, including bars, restaurants, swimming pools and play areas. They are friendly places, and kids will make many new companions.

North Yorkshire is the perfect place for a holiday park vacation because it has fun activities for everyone. It has a range of outdoor pursuits on offer, including the Flamingo Land Resort theme park. You can also enjoy gentle hikes through the Yorkshire Moors or Dales or stroll around picturesque market towns, such as Harrogate.

The North Yorkshire coast is home to the quaint seaside towns of Scarborough and Whitby. Here, you can enjoy boat rides, water sports, relaxing on the beach and even fossil hunting. A visit to the historic cities of York and Leeds is also a must.

#4 – Take a City Break in Liverpool

City vacations can be expensive, but Liverpool is a super-economic, family-friendly place to visit. If you book in advance, you can find many budget accommodation options, including self-catering apartments. Liverpool is often overlooked as a city break destination but has many unique things for the whole family to enjoy.

For starters, Liverpool is a vibrant city bursting with culture. You can spend hours exploring the museums, art galleries and the world-class Liverpool ONE Shopping Centre. In the evening (babysitter permitting), parents can enjoy live music, comedy or casinos. You never know – you may find a casino giving a boost to your deposit, which will increase your holiday spending money.

Head north of Liverpool to enjoy Formby and Crosby beaches or partake in family water sports in the City Centre at the world-famous docks. Kids will also love taking the ferry across the river Mersey. Liverpool makes a great base for exploring nearby Chester, North Wales, Manchester and Knowsley Safari Park.

#5 – Rent a Motorhome in the Scottish Highlands

Renting a motorhome from Goboony is a fantastic economic vacation choice, and the beauty of it is that you and your family have total freedom. Imagine staying in unique secluded places under the stars and changing your scenery daily. Modern motorhomes are luxurious and comfortable and are a fraction of the cost of a hotel. Where better to enjoy a motor home family vacation than the spectacular Scottish Highlands?

The Scottish Highlands has breath-taking scenery and a unique coast full of wildlife and traditional seaside towns. Kids will love watching out to see the Loch Ness monster or exploring the largest mountain in the UK, Ben Nevis. You can also take a day trip to the Isle of Skye or enjoy world-class hiking in the national parks. Harry Potter fans shouldn’t miss the Glenfinnan aqueduct railway, which features in the films, and for a bit of city action, visit Fort William and Inverness.

#6 – Choose Self-Catering Accommodation in the Lake District

The final idea on our list of family vacations that won’t break the bank is a self-catering holiday in the Lake District. Self-catering holidays are economical and give you flexibility and independence. You can enjoy leisurely meals of your choice in the comfort of a home environment and save a lot of money on eating out.

The Lake District is an idyllic place to enjoy a self-catering holiday, where the theme is water activities, which are suitable for all ages. Or you can enjoy gentle, buggy-friendly hikes and bike riding through the gentle, rolling countryside.

The Lake District has many pretty villages and towns, outdoor activity parks, and abundant nature and wildlife. It’s the perfect place to enjoy family picnics around the lakes while the children frolic in the water. The Lakes is also home to Beatrix Potter, the Peter Rabbit author, so don’t miss out on a visit to The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction if you or your little ones are a fan of her work.
