LEGOLAND AT CHRISTMAS

Legoland at Christmas

A couple of weeks ago we visited Legoland Windsor. Despite the cold weather, it was actually a really great day and a very different experience to when we visited in the summer a couple of years ago. If you’re thinking about visiting Legoland around Christmas time, then read on to find out more…

Legoland

Legoland Resort, Windsor first opened it’s doors in 1996 and is the largest of all the Legoland parks at 61 hectare.

Legoland is located in Windsor, Berkshire and we decided to visit as we were staying in the area for Lapland UK. The last time we went to Legoland was in 2019 in the summer. The park was very busy during that trip as the weather was good and it was during the school holidays. The queues for the rides were very long and I think we only managed to get on four rides in the end. We came away a little disappointed as it’s far from the cheapest day out.

This time was very different as the park was quiet. I’m not sure if it’s always like that in December but we actually really enjoyed it. We managed to get on double the amount of rides than last time and it was just a much more enjoyable day not having to make our way through crowds and endless queues. It was cold, but we all bundled up in coats, hats and gloves and we were absolutely fine. It didn’t rain, so that was a bonus.

The Legoland park is decorated beautifully for Christmas, complete with Christmas trees, fairy lights, a Lego Santa and even fake snow. There’s plenty of Christmassy photo opportunities as you make your way around the park, we certainly took advantage of this.

There’s Christmas shows and puppet pantomimes and your little ones can even write a letter to Santa at The Brick!

You can meet Father Christmas at Legoland this year too. This is booked and charged separately to your park tickets. We chose not to do this, simply because the kids were already going to see Father Christmas at Lapland UK so we didn’t want to ruin the magic of that experience.

Now, the downside to visiting Legoland in December is that not all of the rides are in service. But to be completely honest we didn’t notice many that weren’t open and it certain didn’t effect our day. There was still plenty to do.
