A couple of weeks ago I wrote about having my teeth whitened and how I was finding the treatment so far, if you didn’t see that post you can read it here. I’ve now finished my treatment and I am really pleased with the results. So I wanted to share this post for anyone who may be considering teeth whitening.
I had my treatment at the Centre for Dentistry in Sainsbury’s at Wadsley Bridge in Sheffield, but they do have branches across the country, you can find your nearest one here. The treatment was by Enlighten and involved using a 14 day at home kit, followed by a one off in-chair treatment. I wrote about the process in more detail in my previous post, so do pop over and have a read of that if you’d like to know more.
The Enlighten kit comes with two different gels for the home treatment. Luckily I had very little sensitivity with the first gel. When I moved on to the stronger gel I did experience a bit of sensitivity in my bottom front teeth. The dentist had told me that this was possible at my initial appointment and I was given a desensitising tooth serum as well as the desensitiser snap swabs. The swabs definitely did help but it got to a point where it was really quite intense so I decided to speak to the dentist. I was advised to skip a night or two if needed and to use a smaller amount of gel. This seemed to really help and I was then able to complete my treatment.
Some people don’t experience any sensitivity at all so don’t let my experience put you off. Finally, I had my in-chair treatment. This was pretty straight forward, you take your trays to your appointment with you, they use a gel and leave them in for around an hour. I didn’t experience any pain or discomfort during this part of the treatment. The dentist did say that I may get some sensitivity later on in the day but luckily I didn’t.
I am so pleased with my results and I feel so much more confident about my smile now. I used to always hide my teeth when I smiled but now I don’t feel I need to. I’d also found that certain lipsticks made my teeth look even more yellow so I avoided wearing them. Now I can wear pretty much any shade of lipstick I want and my teeth still look lovely and bright!
Here are my teeth before and after treatment, please excuse the mouth guard! I realise it isn’t a pretty sight but it’s just the best way for me to show you my results.
If teeth whitening isn’t for you, or you’d simply like to consider other options then it might be worth looking into veneers. Veneers are basically thin shells that cover the surface of the tooth. They are perfect if you have discoloured or chipped teeth. There’s lots of information about them available online, or you can consult your dentist.
The cost of my treatment was £399 but there are other options available. For more information and prices visit Centre for Dentistry here.
What do you think to my results?
Thanks for reading.
*My treatment was complimentary but as always all opinions are my own*
