As a stay at home mum, I don’t usually have any parties or events to go to over the Christmas period so as much as I love the idea of getting dolled up in a pretty dress, it just doesn’t happen these days. But this year is a little different as we actually do have a couple of things planned so I was in need of some new dresses. So when I got the opportunity to review a couple of dresses from JD Williams, I was so excited!
Although I had heard of JD Williams, I’d never actually shopped there before. When I went to browse their website I was really surprised at the range of beautiful party dresses that they have available. It took me ages to narrow it down to just two dresses but I managed it in the end and I’m so pleased with my choices.
Metallic ribbed dress
In all honesty I have put on some weight recently and was worried that this dress would not flatter me, especially as I have really wide hips anyway. But actually I don’t think it’s too bad and I think it shows off my figure quite well. I reckon a good pair of control pants for the old mum tum and I’ll be good to go (I’m totally holding it in on the last photo!).
It’s hard to see it in these photos but the dress actually has a subtle metallic thread running throughout, making it perfect for the festive season.
I wore it here with my H&M leather jacket and Primark leopard print boots and I love how it looks. I’m planning to wear this on Christmas Day but will probably style it differently, most likely with black tights.
This dress is available in black and khaki (which is what I’m wearing) and is a total bargain at just £30.
Mesh velvet dress
Now this one is very much out of my comfort zone and not something I would usually go for at all, as it’s very pretty and girly. But I fell in love with it and decided to give it a try anyway, and I really love it.
We’re going to Edinburgh for New Year so I’m thinking I’ll take this one with me. I know it’ll probably end up being covered up by a big coat for the most part but I’m just so desperate to wear it!
It’s more expensive than the first dress at £70 but it’s really lovely quality, perfect if your looking for something a little bit special.
What do you think to these dresses? Which one is your favourite?
